JOB SUMMARY:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap appropriate for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of Manager – Raw Materials, the incumbent will be responsible for executing the approved plan to accomplish the objective of minimizing overall of maximizing return for the operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with available suppliers including active solicitation of new supply sources, within assigned region. The supplier base will include established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
This position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with other personnel, transportation, scrap inspection and accounting personnel.
Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 -3 year of relevant experience with 1 year experience directly related to buying and selling scrap. In addition, incumbent should possess knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials, along with some knowledge of transportation issues and scrap yard operations.
The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business and must possess strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills. Candidate must function effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. High ethical standards and a strong work ethic are key attributes. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers. This position requires regular weekly travel to complete job duties and maintain an effective network of vendors, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the cost-effective procurement of scrap. The Incumbent must stay abreast of current market trends and be aware of regional scrap markets and competitive situations/practices. Requires utilizing a network of sources to understand market activity and determine the needs of the mill/s supplied. The incumbent will procure scrap based on the specific terms of purchase contracts within established policies and procedures, reviews and/or approves the incoming invoices and document vendor performance. This position also serves as a liaison between Yard personnel and scrap suppliers. This position will provide commercial information used in analyzing inventory requirements
As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. Candidate must actively coordinate any such issues with appropriate administrative and accounting personnel.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Recruit new supply sources for scrap in the local regional market.
2. Primarily responsible for the procurement of scrap Metals.
3. Incumbent will maintain effective business relationships with current supplier base and seek out new sources of scrap that will assist in meeting procurement objectives within established policies and procedures.
4. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers.
5. Stay abreast of current market trends and competitive situations/practices in order to meet the needs of the operations supplied.
6. Provide information to management and Transportation to help develop cost avoidance and savings opportunities in the purchase, transportation and processing of scrap.
7. Serve as liaison between plant management and scrap suppliers.
8. Review scrap order shipment status weekly and make necessary adjustments to insure timely receipt of goods purchased and proper order application.
9. Within established policies, resolve discrepancies primarily pertaining to grading, weight settlement, order application, and other disputes with vendors and Operations personnel. Issues must be resolved tactfully to maintain sound and effective relationships.
10. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms-and-conditions and safety and environmental compliance requirements to shippers and plant personnel.
11. Candidate must maintain computer literacy in procurement systems, with proficiency in company scrap information systems and other business applications.

Your Purpose:
You will be responsible for some duties primarily servicing the ladle metallurgy station, the casting machine billet run-out area, ladles, electric arc furnace, and the brick crew operations.
Your Work:
- Will involve simple routine tasks and physical in nature, requiring some care to safely use heavy tools in digging out ladles, shoveling materials, taking temperatures, and obtaining samples at the Ladle Metalurgical Station (LMS), and when operating the forklift and bobcat.
- Will assist LMS Operator when making alloy and slag additions, taking temperature, and assisting with lancing heats.
- Will assist the brick crew with removing refractories from used ladles, tundishes, etc. using heavy pry bars and pneumatic tools, shovel, and dump out brick and slag refuse.
- Will assist in cleaning furnace and surrounding pit area, ladle car track area, tilt cylinders, casting spray changer, and billet run-out area during downtime using hand tools such as a shovel, picks, crowbar, cutting torch, and broom.
- Will assist in hooking up, setting and unhooking ladles, materials, etc. in conjunction with the crane.
- Will assist casting crew with torch cutting scrap billets when necessary.
- Will assist the operator of the track mobile in switching scrap into the stock house.
- Will assist furnace crew, ladle crew, and casting crew as necessary, cross-training in other melt shop jobs, and performing other duties and assignments as required and directed.
- Will inspect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, and/ or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision.
- Maintain work area and equipment.

Your Qualifications:

Your Purpose:
You will operate an overhead cab crane to lift and transfer the scrap bucket from the scrap loading area to the furnace for charging. Transport raw materials to the floor, add alloys in the furnace/bins, perform electrode addition functions, and position furnace roof, shell, and equipment during maintenance activities. Follow established material handling practices and procedures combined with directives from melt shop floor personnel. Cab is sealed and air conditioned.
Your Work:
- Operate a 270 ton overhead charging crane to pick-up and transport scrap bucket from scrap loading area to the furnace for charging. Lift, move, and position raw materials and refill material bins as needed. Perform electrode addition functions.
- Use judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of material movement and handling procedures required to service melt shop area in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manipulate or depress crane controls such as pedals/levers to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.
- Inspect crane for defective parts and notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
- Unload, transfer, and aid in placing equipment, parts, electrodes, and other supplies.
- May serve as a Relief Ladle Crane Operator when regularly assigned operator is unavailable.
- Perform other crane handling operations in the melt shop as directed according to operational requirements.
- May include removal of slag pot.
- Perform routine equipment care, and record and inspect vehicles and mobile equipment, which may include fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed.
Qualifications Required:
- Basic computer skills.
- 3 years experience operating a cab-controlled overhead crane from an elevated operator cab.
- Ability to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
- Ability to work a (Dupont Schedule) 12 hr rotating shift, days, nights and two weekends a month.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in temperatures up to 160 degrees.
- Ability to work in cramped quarters and at heights up to 150 ft.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Overall responsibility for the Enterprise Risk Management process for the U.S. and Canada, including the governance framework, systems, policies, procedures, reporting, and key risk indicators necessary to identify, assess, mitigate, monitor, and communicate strategic, operational, financial, compliance, and insurable risks across a complex manufacturing environment. This role also supports disciplined project and program execution by applying PMO practices, governance standards, and risk-based decision making to enterprise and cross-functional initiatives.
As an Enterprise Risk Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing risk strategies, governance processes, and control improvements across the organization. You will be responsible for facilitating enterprise risk assessments, maintaining the risk register, establishing reporting for senior leadership, and partnering with business leaders to strengthen risk awareness, operational resilience, and compliance. You will also be responsible for leading or supporting a company wide Enterprise Risk Management methodology and practice. In addition, the role will provide project management and PMO support for strategic initiatives by helping define project scope, governance, milestones, dependencies, risk mitigation plans, and status reporting to improve execution discipline across functions.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Enterprise Risk Manager reports directly to the Corporate Director of Finance.
Qualifications for this position include:
- Seven to ten years of progressive experience in risk management, internal controls, audit, finance, operations, or a related discipline, with meaningful experience in a manufacturing environment.
- The preferred candidate demonstrates strong knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks, risk assessment methodologies, governance practices, business continuity concepts, and operational risk in areas such as safety, supply chain, plant operations, capital projects, compliance, and financial controls.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and applying project management or PMO disciplines—including project planning, governance, milestone tracking, issue and risk escalation, and executive status reporting—is strongly preferred.
- The candidate is recognized as a subject matter expert in risk management, process improvement, and change leadership, with the ability to influence stakeholders and translate complex risks into practical business actions.
- Education requirements include a four-year college degree in finance, accounting, business, engineering, risk management, or a related field; professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, CRMP, FRM, or PMP are a plus.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics or Electrical Engineering with 5 years manufacturing experience programming PLC's.

What You Bring:

Your Qualifications:

Melter – Refractory Routine Facilitator (Summary)
Primary Purpose
The Refractory Routine Facilitator is responsible for leading the daily operations of refractory maintenance and installation activities within the Melt Shop. This role supervises refractory technicians, ensures safe and efficient production, manages continuous improvement efforts, and supports cost, quality, and reliability goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise refractory technicians (brick masons and slide gate technicians).
- Coordinate refractory installation and maintenance for:
- Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF)
- Ladles
- Caster Tundishes
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.
- Monitor equipment and address operational issues and malfunctions.
- Manage production schedules and workflow to meet deadlines.
- Develop, administer, and improve operating standards, procedures, job aids, and training materials.
- Conduct training, coaching, audits, and performance observations.

The Sr Quality Metallurgist provides technical leadership and metallurgical support for the Melt Shop, Rolling Mill, and Logistics operations. Role Overview
Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Sr Quality Metallurgist is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and implementing product and process improvement opportunities. The role also supports the Quality Assurance program through document control, calibration management, internal audits, corrective actions, and data preparation for Management Review. Key Responsibilities
Evaluate customer requirements and ensure alignment with mill capabilities.

Job Summary:
The Yard Operator has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Yard Operator requires knowledge of scrap grading, or have the ability to learn. Job Description
To provide minimum downtime for all plant equipment by preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting and repairing any maintenance (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, etc.) problems. The incumbent daily assigns projects and repairs and follows up with technical and/or physical assistance.
The incumbent is responsible for maintaining the mill in a functional, productive and safe operating condition. He is responsible to carry out the preventive maintenance program as related to cranes, machinery motors and other related equipment where routine adjustments are made and is available and adaptable to special problems which arise. The incumbent works closely with supervisors and superintendents within the company explaining and resolving maintenance problems.
The incumbent must also keep several reports including maintenance downtime log, work request log, and fab shop log, and records any changes that are made to the master plans.
The incumbent has several employee relations functions to perform such as merit reviews and recommends the hiring, disciplining and terminating of employees. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining records of attendance. The incumbent is responsible for training and orientation and must be able to communicate technical expertise in order to delegate responsibility to subordinates. The technical experience includes but is not limited to industrial hydraulics, understanding of mechanical, piping, and structural drawings, mechanical systems, water systems, rotating equipment, industrial automation, PLC’s and HMI’s.
The major challenges facing the incumbent include assuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery. The incumbent must be able to adapt to changes and make technical decisions in order to prevent or reduce downtime. Problems requiring capital outlays or extended downtime have to be approved by superior.
Provide full support for the implementation and management of safety systems. Participate in all accident and incident investigations in area of responsibility. Conduct routine safety activities including inspection tours, employee contacts, lock out audits, and contractor safety. Ensure that safety rules and requirements are being followed in all work areas. Maintain compliance with visual management standards.

JOB SUMMARY:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap appropriate for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of Manager – Raw Materials, the incumbent will be responsible for executing the approved plan to accomplish the objective of minimizing overall of maximizing return for the operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with available suppliers including active solicitation of new supply sources, within assigned region. The supplier base will include established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
This position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with other personnel, transportation, scrap inspection and accounting personnel.
Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 -3 year of relevant experience with 1 year experience directly related to buying and selling scrap. In addition, incumbent should possess knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials, along with some knowledge of transportation issues and scrap yard operations.
The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business and must possess strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills. Candidate must function effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. High ethical standards and a strong work ethic are key attributes. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers. This position requires regular weekly travel to complete job duties and maintain an effective network of vendors, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the cost-effective procurement of scrap. The Incumbent must stay abreast of current market trends and be aware of regional scrap markets and competitive situations/practices. Requires utilizing a network of sources to understand market activity and determine the needs of the mill/s supplied. The incumbent will procure scrap based on the specific terms of purchase contracts within established policies and procedures, reviews and/or approves the incoming invoices and document vendor performance. This position also serves as a liaison between Yard personnel and scrap suppliers. This position will provide commercial information used in analyzing inventory requirements
As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. Candidate must actively coordinate any such issues with appropriate administrative and accounting personnel.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Summary:
The Mobile Equipment Operator yard will operate mobile crane, magnet crane, mobile shear, and stationary shear to process scrap materials, load and unload scrap from trucks or railcars, and move scrap within the yard as required.

Operates heavy mobile equipment specific to scrap operations area to include a mobile crane with a hydraulic grapple or front end loader to process, handle, and weigh scrap material. Watch operation of surrounding conveyors and equipment, and communicate any problems to responsible personnel.
Move and weigh material, accurately recording weight, product, and location.
Functions as relief for the Mobile Equipment Operator positions requiring versatility to adequately carry out the normal operator duties during the substitution period.
Perform routine equipment care such as lubrication, greasing, fueling and cleaning of mobile equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems, using required knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems/components, as well as how they operate.

Your Purpose
The areas of responsibility include Utilities, Cranes, Mobile Equipment and Buildings and Grounds. Your Work

Job Summary:
The Yard Operator has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Yard Operator requires knowledge of scrap grading, or have the ability to learn. The Yard Operator will assist in several aspects of daily operational needs such as scrap inspection, ferrous and non-ferrous purchasing, mobile equipment operation, and performing general maintenance duties.
The Yard Operator will be expected to safely operate a material handling crane or loader in order to accomplish daily tasks. They must communicate regularly with the scale, supervisor, other coworkers, and customers about the quality of material and shipping requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
- Work involves a variety of tasks, simple through moderately complex in nature, requiring some care to ensure correct procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and that all material that fails the scan is quarantined and the appropriate personnel are notified.
- Operate the loader and/or the material handler to assist in loading and unloading scrap material, while following the quality standards of Gerdau and the customer.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap inspected against quality, and environmental standards and appropriate deductions and downgrades are applied. Communicate findings with the scale in a timely manner.
- Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality. Identify deductions and downgrades.
- Ensure that all outbound materials meets safety and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
- Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, safety, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion.

Locations with Rail:

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Scrap Operation Superintendent has complete responsibility for effective and efficient operation of the shredder, scrap yard, and rail car dismantling operations and equipment in order to meet established costs and production goals. The position reports to Midlothian Mill V.P. and along with the Melt Shop Superintendent, Rolling Mill Superintendent, Metallurgical Services Manager, Management Systems Coordinator, Maintenance Superintendent, Human Resources Manager, Warehouse/Shipping Operations Manager, Plant Controller, and Safety Manager. Qualifications for this position include background and experience as may be demonstrated by one with experience of 10-12 years with scrap yard and automobile shredder operations, procedures, techniques, equipment requirements, installation, maintenance and modification and a working knowledge of metallurgical qualities of all the different types and grades of scrap steel that will meet the requirements of ASTM Standards for carbon steel, merchant quality, special bar quality, and forging quality steel. A 4-year technical and/or business management degree or the equivalent is preferred. Proven leadership in scrap processing is required.
The Scrap Operations Superintendent oversees the entire scrap operations for the Midlothian Mill through subordinate supervisors engaged in a wide variety of work to include managing the shredder, scrap yard, and rail car dismantling operations; procurement of car bodies and shredder feed from local scrap dealers for the shredder, receiving, inspecting, transfer, placement, blending, and timely delivery of scrap to the Melt Shop Operations. The incumbent will develop standard operating procedures for the shredder, scrap yard and rail car dismantling operations; design, installation, modification and maintenance of all equipment at the shredder, scrap yard and rail car dismantling operations; dismantling and shearing of rail cars; salvaging, maintaining, and shipment of rail car parts resold on an aftermarket basis; overseeing the landfill operations for non-metallic waste from the shredder and rail car dismantling operations; insuring that environmental permit requirements are maintained. Manage all administrative, HR, accounting, and quality activities for all scrap related operations at the Midlothian Mill and coordinate closely with the Melt Shop Superintendent and corporate raw materials department in the performance of job duties.
Coordinate and cooperate with all departments and personnel on all matters of mutual concern or interrelated responsibility. Advise and instruct subordinates as to objectives or regarding any problems of schedules, methods, standards, materials, quality, shipping, equipment, tooling, safety, cost, discipline, personnel policies, environmental practices and procedures, or other matters affecting operation of the mill or shipments. Make related decisions within established policy precedent and any applicable federal and state guidelines.
Incumbent establishes production methods, procedures and techniques, anticipates delays and takes corrective action. Establish work schedules, research and recommend capital expenditures, equipment installation and/or modifications, and design changes for improved efficiency.
Maintain inventory of operational supplies and coordinate with Purchasing in order to maintain inventory. Responsible for inventory security.
Assist and direct subordinate supervisors and personnel as necessary to insure proper performance of duties. Anticipate or investigate delays, inadequate work performance, and take necessary corrective action within limits of established practices. Coordinate and track department teambuilding efforts. Check works in process, as necessary, for conformance to standards and specifications. Conduct and attend various meetings. Make effective recommendations to meet changing requirements. Job Summary:
Plan, lay out, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, construct, modify, calibrate, test, service, and program highly complex equipment in support of steel production operation and related plant facilities. Need to have knowledge of electrical and electronic wiring specification, properties of various materials, and the principles of operation and application of equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems, using required knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems/components, as well as how they operate.
- Perform rounds and check machinery to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.
- Exercise judgement when troubleshooting AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and all high-voltage systems at or below 480 volts.
- Inspect and perform daily maintenance on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC Systems, PLC networks, and cranes, and repairs or replaces worn items as required.
- Service the electrical aspect of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems as needed.
- Lay out, install, and maintain a variety of complete electronically-controlled equipment, such as rolling mill loop controls, secondary distribution centers, programmable sequences, and pulpit control panel.

JOB: Hydraulic Repair Technician “A”
SCOPE
Primary: - Inspects plant hydraulic equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
- Troubleshoots and analyzes repair, installation and determines best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
- Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.
- Dismantles, cleans, repairs, replaces, installs, maintains, assembles and lubricates hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
- Adjust equipment for proper operating characteristics, making either temporary or permanent repairs.
- Operates machine tools, such as drill press, pipe threading machine, power tools, etc.

- Performs pipefitting and other repairs of hydraulic lines as required and fabricates hose assemblies.
- Assembles or align gears, bearing and shafts, involving press, sliding and running fits in hydraulic pumps.
- Changes, sets up and adjust equipment as required by current operating equipment conditions.
- Designs alterations to existing hydraulic system.
- Performs minor electrical work required in the servicing, installation and repair of directional valves. Solenoids, etc.
- Reads, understands schematics, drawing and makes sketches if necessary for repair or installation work.
- Documents all work performed on Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- All other tasks assigned by management.
Secondary: - Works with repair crew on emergency and other breakdowns as required.
- Purchases part for hydraulic systems and assures that necessary spare parts and assemblies are available.

The incumbent will monitor state legislative activities to ensure Gerdau Special Steel Monroe Mill participates in the development of emerging regulations that could impact division operations. Providing expertise as needed in special areas such as source testing, air toxics, PSD, New Source Review, etc., to minimize staff/consultant time addressing easily resolvable matters.
The incumbent is a Management Representative of the Environmental Management System for the division. This job oversees the Environmental Management System (example ISO14001).
The incumbent should possess a bachelor’s degree in environmental/chemical engineering, or physical science with a strong emphasis in chemistry and 8-10 years’ experience (with at least one year’s supervisory preferred) and experience acquiring environmental permits, conducting negotiations with regulatory agencies and supervising consultant activities. The incumbent must have fundamental understanding of major federal environmental regulations/programs and a detailed/practical experience based knowledge in at least one key environmental program area (i.e. RCRA, air permitting, UST, remediation, etc.).
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

JOB SUMMARY:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap appropriate for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of Manager – Raw Materials, the incumbent will be responsible for executing the approved plan to accomplish the objective of minimizing overall of maximizing return for the operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with available suppliers including active solicitation of new supply sources, within assigned region. The supplier base will include established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
This position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with other personnel, transportation, scrap inspection and accounting personnel.
Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 -3 year of relevant experience with 1 year experience directly related to buying and selling scrap. In addition, incumbent should possess knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials, along with some knowledge of transportation issues and scrap yard operations.
The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business and must possess strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills. Candidate must function effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. High ethical standards and a strong work ethic are key attributes. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers. This position requires regular weekly travel to complete job duties and maintain an effective network of vendors, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the cost-effective procurement of scrap. The Incumbent must stay abreast of current market trends and be aware of regional scrap markets and competitive situations/practices. Requires utilizing a network of sources to understand market activity and determine the needs of the mill/s supplied. The incumbent will procure scrap based on the specific terms of purchase contracts within established policies and procedures, reviews and/or approves the incoming invoices and document vendor performance. This position also serves as a liaison between Yard personnel and scrap suppliers. This position will provide commercial information used in analyzing inventory requirements
As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. This position will support the Location Supervisor(s), and Location Manager, in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of all routine and improvement aspects within their area of responsibility. Also to aid in managing, directing and participating in scrap production at the Recycling location in order to achieve efficient output and profit objectives. During the 12 - 18 month development program, the incument will develop a core understanding of Gerdau and the steel and recycling industry, how to work in a fast-paced team environment, and the culture that will help prepare you for a leadership or technical role within the company. The incumbent’s objective is to also gain an understanding of the scrap market, grades, and specifications. Organize the collection of scrap metal, aide and supervise the process of sorting scrap metal and stage the delivery of steel to the customers on time and minimize downgardes. Responsible for working with scrap inspectors to ensure proper grading of inbound scrap.
Principal Accountabilities:
This position directly reports to the Location Manager.The incumbent will coordinate efforts with the different functional groups both within area of responsibility and other areas of the location. The incumbent would be detail oriented and must be comfortable dealing with associates at all levels within the organization. The incumbent will assist in the oversight, contribution to, and support of the trainings and development activities for employees of the location.
The incumbent will assist the Location Management team with the Annual Action Plan, Capex, and administration of established policies, procedures, and processes. This position will contain scope and breadth of responsibility for manufacturing processes as well as the multitude and complexity of the equipment utilized in the manufacturing process. As well as contribute to, and support daily routine and improvement management activities, including identifying best practices, and act as a change agent to help achieve higher level of results within the assigned location by utilizing and implementing improvement processes.
The incumbent will be responsible for the oversight, contribution to, and support of all the safety activities. The incumbent must possess good communication skills, have the ability to articulate ideas, give feedback, resolve conflicts, and point out areas where improvement is needed, as well as the ability to develop a positive relationship with employees in order to develop credibility. Must be results oriented and have the ability to motivate others. Approximately 50% of the incumbents time will be spent outside in the scrap yard.
The Individual:
- Qualifications for this position include a four year college degree in or Business related Discipline (Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain or Management, and other related disciplines)
- Recent university graduate - recently completed or be in the process of completing degree before program starts
- Preference for experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, with a working knowledge of scrap processing methods and techniques (recommended, but not required).
- The ability to train people and serve as a coach to employees will also be an advantage. The incumbent should possess solid presentation abilities combined with good interpersonal and organizational skills.

Your Contribution
Work with global and North American teams to disseminate communications – such as newsletters, announcements, webinar invites and digital signage – throughout North American channels

Your Expertise

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Senior Financial Analyst function within the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) group is an leading contributor role supporting the FP&A Managers for Planning and Strategy, Operations Management, and Business Development. This position will be responsible for performing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual analysis of actual results to better understand how they compare to forecasted/planned performance. Goals of analytic activities are to confirm current actions are achieving desired results, identify new areas for improvement or challenges to achieving desired results, and improving the overall capability of the various Corporate or Operational functions to forecast desired results. The Senior Financial Analyst will be required to work with varying levels of the GNA Management (including the VP level) and to present analysis and action plans to Senior Management.
DIMENSIONS:
Works directly with (or in tandem with their respective FP&A Manager) a Process Leader and their team to monitor, analyze and improve results. Provides direction to functional counterparts in operating units as required, and to operating and senior management on matters involving cost determination problems, or issues such as inventory valuation, distribution of overhead, treatment of joint costs, and product pricing. Conducts special studies and analyses such as determination of work-in-house, or subcontract and cost impact of proposed facilities or processes. Participates in Process Leader team meetings (as appropriate) to ensure current analyses are providing value and to identify where new areas of analysis need to be developed. Works with location controllers to ensure analysis and/or improvement activities are communicated to the appropriate level of accountability to achieve desired results. At times, analysts may be involved with presentations of results developed for the CFO, COO, CEO, Gerdau Ameristeel Executive Committee, Gerdau Ameristeel Board of Directors, Gerdau Group Executive Committee or Gerdau Group Board of Directors.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Senior Financial Analysts will report to one of the FP&A managers; however, given work balancing may receive direction from any of the managers and/or the Director of FP&A. The expectation is that once the individual is transitioned to the FP&A team, they will be able to interact with VP levels, management, etc. with little oversight and direction. Additionally, while not having managerial responsibilities, this position may require the individual to provide functional advice or training to less-experienced financial analyst positions
Travel requirements will be minimal as these roles will generally support analysis of a Corporate group (Commercial, Raw Materials, Downstream, SIOP, Engineering, etc.) or a Mill Operations VP/GM, the majority of which are in the Corporate Office. The analyst supporting the FP&A Manager for Business Development may have periods of travel related to the type of projects being worked on at the time.
