This position is responsible for providing effective professional health and safety support to improve the industrial health and safety of all employees. Will assist in the implementation of loss prevention and control efforts for the local Gerdau location.
NATURE & SCOPE:
This position is responsible for assisting with loss prevention and control systems, as they relate to health and safety, and providing technical support for improvement efforts. The Safety Specialist will assist management with the development and implementation of a safety management system aimed at preventing and controlling losses.
The Safety Specialist reports directly to the Safety Manager. Under general direction, assist with the development, identification, and implementation of management tools to support the safety management system that is congruent with performance expectations. Assist with the implementation of a communication plan for health and safety issues, including all safety training programs at the location.
The incumbent will participate in the supporting the Gerdau Ameristeel Business System (GBS) as it relates to health and safety. The primary focus of the position will be to support the implementation and administration of the safety management system.
The incumbent actively participates in accident prevention activities to include inspections, observations, and incident investigations. This position acts in an advisory capacity to management and may serve as a liaison with governmental agencies as necessary.
The incumbent should possess a bachelor’s degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, or other appropriate technical discipline and 2 to 5 years’ safety experience (manufacturing environment preferred). This position requires the ability to solve problems, influence, and communicate ideas to effect change in behaviors. Excellent communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications are required. Responsible for staying abreast of new technologies and current trends to make recommendations that help improve and refine the safety process.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Summary:
The Logistics Analyst will perform diversified duties pertaining to the maintenance of current transportation structures within Gerdau freight systems. The Logistics Analyst is responsible for assisting with negotiating proposals, establishing and verifying shipping procedures. This position will solicit quotes and maintaining rate and freight tracking systems.
Nature and Scope:
This position reports directly to the Logistics Coordinator III. Incumbent coordinates activities with regional area shipping managers, and accounting personnel. This position is responsible for assisting with the negotiation of the company’s lugger and roll off distribution methods. Incumbent will provide logistics information for routine and established accounts to the raw materials group and other departments as required. This position serves as system wide administrator for freight systems by maintaining the freight rate tracking program, calculating various transportation rates, updating system with changes as required, and communicating between Gerdau shipping departments and information services. Additionally, the incumbent will maintain physical carrier files and contracts. The incumbent must also possess the ability to process and disseminate large amounts of information, as well as problem solving skills, ability to multitask and customer service skills.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Responsible for assisting with negotiating proposals, establishing and verifying shipping procedures.
- Responsible for assisting with the negotiation of confidential contracts, rates, and services, with luggers/roll offs, van trailer, flatbed, and rail at the most effective cost.
- Incumbent works with outside transportation service providers, Gerdau departments and locations, regional transportation managers, to obtain and provide information to meet logistics needs.
- Responsible for reviewing and evaluating, and processing customer, carrier, and company transportation issues.
- The incumbent assists in investigating payment discrepancies, resolving issues related to incorrect data entry.
- The incumbent perform other related duties as may arise and provides support as needed to shipping locations, sales department or customers.
- May be required to travel locally from time to time.
- To dispatch trucks to ensure reliable customer satisfaction.
- Data entry for internal maintenance and purchasing of required parts and items within the department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
- Two years logistics experience.

Your Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 2 years of heavy industrial electrical maintenance, installations, and troubleshooting and repairing experience.
- Requires working knowledge of machines, controls, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic knowledge of electrical and electronic controls.
- Understanding of shop mathematics with the use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments.

Your Work:
- Under general supervision, work from wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, head sketches, and project schedules to perform a variety of duties, ranging from moderately complex to difficult work involving electrical controls, motors, and power circuits.
- Use a variety of sophisticated hand tools and electrical measuring and testing instruments such as oscilloscopes, Ohm meters to effectively test, adjust, dismantle, repair, and reassemble or install equipment involving motors, motor controls, electronic circuits and controls, circuit breakers, transformers, induction heaters, overhead cranes, and other electrical equipment and systems within the plant.
- Understand and apply all aspects of the critical tasks and the use of PRA’S before staring any work or repair.
- Working knowledge troubleshooting and repairing Ajax induction heating units.
- Install all types of conduits, making necessary bends, threading, and reassembling where necessary.
- Periodically inspect electrical equipment for electrical trouble or preventative maintenance.
- Disassemble motors; clean, repair, replace or adjust brushed and holders; repair or adjust electrical brakes, sleeve, or ball bearings.
- Disassemble, rebuild, and install air compressors, water pumps and cooling towers as necessary.
- Perform a variety of maintenance and repair operations to keep plant property, equipment, machines, forklifts and tools in good operating condition.
- Work in many verified and diverse capacities required in general plant maintenance, such as mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, pipefitting, burning, welding, lubricating, adjusting, set-ups of equipment etc.
- Maintain necessary records and perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.
- Detect and report defective material, improper operation, and unusual conditions to proper supervision.

Job Summary:
Plan, lay out, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, construct, modify, calibrate, test, service, and program highly complex equipment in support of steel production operation and related plant facilities. Need to have knowledge of electrical and electronic wiring specification, properties of various materials, and the principles of operation and application of equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems, using required knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems/components, as well as how they operate.
- Perform rounds and check machinery to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.
- Exercise judgement when troubleshooting AC/DC motor controls, PLC, electrical drives, and all high-voltage systems at or below 480 volts.
- Inspect and perform daily maintenance on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, HVAC Systems, PLC networks, and cranes, and repairs or replaces worn items as required.
- Service the electrical aspect of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems as needed.
- Lay out, install, and maintain a variety of complete electronically-controlled equipment, such as rolling mill loop controls, secondary distribution centers, programmable sequences, and pulpit control panel.
- Balance loads and wire complex circuits.
- Work with related diagnostic equipment including digital voltmeter, paper recorder, multi-volt meter, oscilloscope, and other electronic tools and equipment.
- Maintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and materials usage.
- Interpret schematics and blueprints at an intermediate level.
- Provide technical assistance to maintenance and production personnel as needed.
Additional Responsibilities:

Job Summary:
Performs maintenance necessary to keep plant, equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition. Work involves a wide range of methods and procedures on a variety of routine and non-routine duties to adequately and properly diagnose, dismantle, repair, lubricate, and reassemble equipment. Troubleshoots basic mechanical assemblies to determine whether a pump, gearbox, hydraulic system or pneumatic system can be repaired or needs to be replaced, whether to replace or repair worn parts, and amount of lubrication needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works from drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, machine operation and maintenance manuals, work order requests, and oral instructions to install, adjust, repair, and perform assigned maintenance duties.
- Position, fit and weld components to assemble structural forms, machinery frames, plant equipment, attachments or accessories, and building parts according to blueprints or knowledge of structural and metal characteristics. Utilizes various specialty cutting and welding equipment.
- Troubleshoots and services pumps, gear boxes, motors, cranes, and hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed at an advanced level.
- Periodically inspects conditions of plant operating machines and equipment for preventative maintenance purposes. Inspects and performs routine equipment care on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, and cranes.
- Tears down, replaces, repairs, installs, and assembles simple equipment parts, components, and accessories.
- Cuts, bends, and threads conduit, pipe, and tubing.
- Coordinates the activities of lower level maintenance employees on assigned projects.
- Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage.
- Requires interpretation of schematics/blueprints at an advanced level.
Additional Responsibilities:

Business Development And Sustainability Manager

BASIC FUNCTION:
This role will be responsible for creating new business market strategies and increasing existing market share for GLN in the industry and guide our sustainability efforts from the sales front. This role will handle all functions of new business development from calling and visiting all stakeholders, identifying customer needs, evaluating new opportunities to sell all mill products, planning marketing strategies, and developing action plans to engage stakeholders. The primary focus will be to build customer relationships with key stakeholders in the early development phase and strategically drive new business development initiatives. Key stakeholders could be owner/developers, engineers, architects, general contractors, and channel partners. The person will also be responsible for building and executing our commercial sustainability strategy and identifying market trends and needs to bring them to Gerdau and help build our strategy towards that.
NATURE & SCOPE:
- This role reports directly to the Sales Director.
- Plan, develop, and coordinate potential business development opportunities and marketing for Gerdau’s Business Development and Sales group
- Maintain data for Opportunity Pipeline Cadence Review meetings with Leadership team
- Identify key stakeholders and develop engagement action plans to establish sustainable partnerships with key decision-makers
- Oversee business development efforts to research sources, validate leads, identify project risk, review design plans, scope, and schedule
- Determine opportunities and potential conflicts with channel partners while selling Gerdau products and services
- Evaluate and approve project pipeline, project size, potential EBITDA, and potential alternate solutions for the customer
- Assess value proposition to the customer by understanding the customer’s needs and proposing how Gerdau can provide products, services, industry knowledge, and solutions.
- Determine Gerdau’s role in the value chain and solicit RFQ’s, RFP’s and establish customer rapport
- Prepare and review project proposal with leadership team
- Attend and participate in various industry functions and events
- Advise product development teams with all needed commercial information on customers, products, and market intelligence
- Support shipping forecasts aligned with monthly Demand Planning process

Job Summary:
The Mobile Equipment Operator yard will operate mobile crane, magnet crane, mobile shear, and stationary shear to process scrap materials, load and unload scrap from trucks or railcars, and move scrap within the yard as required.

- Clean machinery and other equipment or apparatus, assist maintenance personnel, as needed handling tools, parts, and perform routine maintenance on any equipment used.
- Perform material handling duties by unloading trucks transporting supplies and parts to the warehouse, stock room, or work areas.
- Use hand tools such as a shovel, pick, sledgehammer, crowbar, broom, and rake; equipment such as hand trucks, dollies, jack, pneumatic hammer, as well as operate forklifts, front-end loaders, and bobcats to perform daily tasks and to get up stock for the furnace.

Job Summary:
Operate all mobile equipment including loaders, man-lifts, forklifts, flatbed trucks and others to transport Melt Shop and/or Refractory materials. Assist other Melt Shop personnel as instructed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Roll Shop Supervisor, this position's main focus will be to set up and operate a computer numerically controlled lathe to machine all types of new and used rolls to finished size and contour for all sections rolled in the Mill.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans working procedures from instructions, prints, computer programs, and work orders
- Slings rolls and places them in a lathe using a crane
- Centers and fastens roll in the lathe
- Barrels new rolls
- Selects and profiles cutting tools for the job in accordance with hardness, machinability, desired contour, and surface of the roll to be turned and set up in the tool holder
- Sets up and operates CNC lathe to turn any type of roll to finished size within close tolerances
- Selects and adjusts speeds and feeds for material to be cut
- Turns rolls to specifications and intermittently checks dimensions for compliance using a protractor, calipers, micrometers, rulers, straights edge, pass templates, and thickness gauges.
- Observes turning of roll, interrupts upon deviation from specifications, and corrects minor errors in a computer program by manually overriding computer
- Operates lathe manually to complete finishing of the roll such as taking out points, blending radii, and using plugs
- Operates milling machine to cut deformations in rolls
- Operates electric discharge machine (EDM) to brand rolls
- Inspects and lubricate equipment

Job Summary
:
Oversee the activities of the Recycling yard personnel and coordinate multiple tasks for the purpose of collecting & sorting scrap into various grades, and coordinating with Sales & Purchasing the transfer of sorted material to customers (internal & external). The basic function of this position is to ensure that operating personnel perform their duties in order to fulfill the requirements of their job duties pertaining to the Recycling yard operations in a safe and timely manner.
Nature and Scope
:
This position reports to the Division Manager, and is responsible for overseeing the activities of movement of scrap through out the operation, as well as training, testing and auditing of the Recycling Yard Operators. The Supervisor will assist in the development of standard operating procedures used by Recycling personnel to fulfill their position duties. The majority of the standards developed will be safely moving traffic and products throughout the Yard. The Recycling Yard Supervisor will work with a variety of outside sources and must be able to interact with other Recycling Yard location personnel, Regional Managers, Customers and Scrap Suppliers. The incumbent should have a working knowledge of scrap and metal grades and must know the different types of steel scrap that is charged into the furnace and the quality requirements in order to make quality finished products. The Recycling Supervisor will be responsible to ensure the proper recording of weight of incoming scrap and outgoing finished product to ensure proper acknowledgement of receivables as well as shipments for proper payment.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Supervise scrap yard personnel for the proper placement of scrap cars and trucks within the Yard safely.
- Responsible for the organization of incoming and outgoing scrap.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and subsequent solution of equipment breakdown problems.
- Responsible for proper operation and utilization of equipment to prevent damage and minimize repair.
- Responsible for initiating, writing, training and auditing personnel on procedures for the Scrap Yard.
- Responsible for the scheduling of personnel, work hours reported by the people, and documentation of any oral or written disciplinary action required.
- Coordinates with Traffic, and Sales & Purchasing Department to coordinate the timely loading/unloading trucks. In addition, duties may include scheduling overtime to work additional hours to unload customers with scrap.
- Responsible for working with the scrap inspector for the proper inspection of incoming scrap by truck. The final decision of either accepting or rejecting incoming scrap will be made.
- Responsible for leading team activities to accomplish improvement goals including facilitating crew meetings.
- Responsible for Departmental housekeeping.
The Individual:
- University Degree plus 2-3 years related work experience or 5-7 years experience in the Scrap Metal industry
- Excellent communication skills are a necessity to interface with customers, scrap suppliers and personnel.

Your Purpose:
You will be responsible for operating electric overhead traveling crane(s) to offload the cast billets from run-out tables, stack cast billets in designated areas using established procedures, and load the reheat furnace, truck and/or rail cars with specified grade of billets as designated.
Your Work:
- Safely and efficiently operate overhead billet yard crane(s) to warehouse billets between the casting and rolling process, by exercising extreme care while transporting billets to their proper location in the storage area, charge table, rail car or truck. Clear obstacles and properly position lifts to prevent injury to employees, damage to equipment, and production delays. Sound warning device during every lift or move made to ensure the safe operation of the crane.
- Transport billets from storage location or from caster cooling bed / run-out tables to reheat furnace, or from trucks/rail cars while maintaining batch segregation, as determined from standardized procedure, production information, prepared charts or other designated information. Issue billets to rolling process according to sequence determined on the production schedule from billet storage to reheating furnace platform at rolling mill. Log every lift of inventory movement in QMOS or other production record keeping system for tracking.
- Maintain material flow and avoid delays, use care, so as not to mix heats of steel and stack billets properly. Handle loads and manipulate levers to avoid excessive swinging. Maintain communication between lab, reheat furnace, caster and shipping personnel.
- Observe loads for stability and condition before making lifts to assure safe operation. Detect indications of slipping or shifting loads, incorrect hitching or faulty magnet operation.
- Remove billet scrap from applicable areas while maintaining designated scrap levels within billet yard.
- Assist with crane in removing malformed billets from charge table or reheat furnace or caster roll line/bed as necessary.
- Promote and comply with safety, 5S and other designated standards at work (permits).
- Perform Pre-Use safety inspections of crane and associated equipment. Inspect crane for maintenance and safety per Pre-Use inspection forms as required by the current safety standards and procedures.
- Ensure crane reliability as well as assist maintenance with repairs where needed. Notify maintenance regarding any equipment concerns. Perform routine equipment care activities.
- Lift, move, place, and otherwise handle equipment or materials within billet yard as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion. Follow all safety regulations and practices.

Your Purpose:
You will be responsible for some duties primarily servicing the ladle metallurgy station, the casting machine billet run-out area, ladles, electric arc furnace, and the brick crew operations.

- Will involve simple routine tasks and physical in nature, requiring some care to safely use heavy tools in digging out ladles, shoveling materials, taking temperatures, and obtaining samples at the Ladle Metalurgical Station (LMS), and when operating the forklift and bobcat.
- Will assist LMS Operator when making alloy and slag additions, taking temperature, and assisting with lancing heats.
- Will assist the brick crew with removing refractories from used ladles, tundishes, etc. using heavy pry bars and pneumatic tools, shovel, and dump out brick and slag refuse.
- Will assist in cleaning furnace and surrounding pit area, ladle car track area, tilt cylinders, casting spray changer, and billet run-out area during downtime using hand tools such as a shovel, picks, crowbar, cutting torch, and broom.

- Will assist casting crew with torch cutting scrap billets when necessary.
- Will assist the operator of the track mobile in switching scrap into the stock house.

JOB SUMMARY:

Job Summary:
Receive, process and visually inspect incoming scrap with the ability to determine the grade in accordance with established procedures and specifications.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify and document supplier’s contents by visually inspecting load against the weight ticket obtained from the supplier. Apply knowledge of the different types of scrap in order to accept, downgrade, or reject the load as needed. Responsible for documenting any non-conforming material.
- Manually remove or signal crane operator to remove pieces of unwanted material. Attach the weight of any non-conforming material to each ticket to ensure proper deductions.
- Identify any environmental or safety issues (e.g., gas tanks, enclosed cylinders, batteries, stored energy sources in the load, etc.) and ensure proper disposal.
- Use portable scanner to process the supplier’s load, entering the contents of the load into the SAP computer system while ensuring the data is accurately entered for inventory control purposes.
- Communicate with crane operators and direct traffic to the correct location to be unloaded while being mindful of traffic flow.
- Responsible for ensuring all truck drivers follow company guidelines and procedures.
- Use the hand held Radiation Detector as needed to inspect loads.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for coordinating the Learning and Development process and providing effective training programs at the assigned steel mill location. This position will support in identifying the local training needs, developing training content, managing training items and curricula in the Learning Management System, and coordinate the execution of training sessions locally. NATURE & SCOPE:
The Learning & Development Specialist reports directly to the Human Resources Manager but will also coordinate activities with the Corporate Organizational Development Team.
This position is responsible for coordinating the assessment of current training needs, will provide support in the development of training content specific for the location, manage the local training items and curricula in the Learning Management System, Coordinate and continuously improve the onboarding experience, be a local reference for the employees regarding training execution and LMS administration.

Job Summary:
The laborer is an entry level position, reflecting employees with no previous knowledge or experience related to scrap metals and recycling. The laborer must have the ability to learn and a strong work ethic. The laborer will assist in several aspects of daily operations such as scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance as directed.
Under the safety standards of Gerdau the laborer will learn to operate mobile equipment and perform general maintenance duties on machinery. The laborer must have strong communication skills and use them at all times to ensure safety among co-workers, truck drivers, peddlers, and contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all of the established Gerdau safety, environmental, and routine procedures specific to the yard
- Operate the fork-lift while progressing towards loader operation and material handler operation to assist in the loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
- Inspect incoming scrap against quality and environmental standards with a progression towards grading and purchasing scrap material
- Apply deductions to non-conforming materials through effective communication with the scale house or yard inspector

The Senior Accounting Clerk is responsible for high volume transaction processing and responding to vendor and internal inquiries with a customer service focus. Job Summary:
Move finished product from rolling mill to staging area for outbound shipments with the use of mobile or material handling equipment. Assist in a variety of functions related to the Logistics Department including inventory and quality checks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of tasks, which are routine in nature, and which require exercising care in the operation of mobile equipment, handling materials safely, and loading appropriate products in designated areas.
- Transfer stacked and bundled materials from end of rolling mill finishing operations to stock area:
- Store materials according to product, grade, size, and heat number.

Job Summary:
Performs maintenance necessary to keep plant, equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition. Work involves a wide range of methods and procedures on a variety of routine and non-routine duties to adequately and properly diagnose, dismantle, repair, lubricate, and reassemble equipment. Troubleshoots basic mechanical assemblies to determine whether a pump, gearbox, hydraulic system or pneumatic system can be repaired or needs to be replaced, whether to replace or repair worn parts, and amount of lubrication needed.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works from drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, machine operation and maintenance manuals, work order requests, and oral instructions to install, adjust, repair, and perform assigned maintenance duties.
- Position, fit and weld components to assemble structural forms, machinery frames, plant equipment, attachments or accessories, and building parts according to blueprints or knowledge of structural and metal characteristics. Utilizes various specialty cutting and welding equipment.
- Troubleshoots and services pumps, gear boxes, motors, cranes, and hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed at an intermediate level.
- Periodically inspects conditions of plant operating machines and equipment for preventative maintenance purposes. Inspects and performs routine equipment care on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, and cranes.
- Tears down, replaces, repairs, installs, and assembles simple equipment parts, components, and accessories.
- Cuts, bends, and threads conduit, pipe, and tubing.
- Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage.
- Requires interpretation of schematics/blueprints at an intermediate level.

:
This role will drive process efficiencies and will lead the payroll tax compliance processes regarding all payroll tax matters. The Payroll Tax Analyst must be a subject matter expert for federal, state and local regulations including tax, audit and reporting laws for US and Canada. The position will require in-depth knowledge of all complex tax processes within the payroll tax department. The role will have frequent and regular interactions with cross-functional departments and Sr. Management throughout the company. Responsible for the calculation and reporting of payroll tax liabilities for North America, in responding to all requests from employees and regulatory agencies, in researching laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures, and in preparing special reports for field operations and management. This position should have a thorough knowledge of payroll tax regulations, practices, and procedures in both the United States and Canada, plus a general knowledge of accounting principles. This position will report directly to the Payroll Manager. Payroll Tax reports to the Employee Services Department, under the HR Department.
Principal Accountabilities
:
- Responsible for leading the tax processes for North America.
- Responsible for the review of all payments and filing of federal, state, local and provincial withholding and unemployment taxes in US and CA.
- Responsible for quarter and year-end reconciliations of all payroll tax liabilities, to include balancing to the General Ledger Accounting.
- Analyzes pay records to determine correct taxation setup for employees and employer. Maintains employee taxation setup in accordance with federal, state, local and provincial regulations. Experience with multi-state payroll and Canada tax is required.
- Responsible for assuring tax updates are input timely and accurately into the payroll system. This includes but not limited to updating all state unemployment rates in the BSI system annually as needed. Will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate updates for unemployment rates both the BSI tax and SAP payroll systems.
- Prepare and submit all Canada payroll tax returns, including Workers’ Compensation and Employer Health Tax returns.
- Subject matter expert for impat/expat taxation to include hypo tax calculations, reporting worldwide income per IRS regulations for international assignees and conversion rates.
- Manages the 3rd party tax vendor in the United States.
- Responsible for payroll tax compliance, including tax research and analysis to maintain compliance for the company.
- This position will be responsible to manage the completion and distribution of Wage and Tax Year-End Statements (Form W2, W2C, T4A and T4) to employees. This requires the calculation of worldwide income for international assignees, gross-up calculations, reporting third-party sick pay information, relocation expenses, and other related taxable income to employees outside the normal reported wages.
- Responsible for responding to all tax notices and governmental correspondence. This will include, but is not limited to, tax overpayments and/or refunds, as well as penalty and interest claims.
- Responsible for employees with company cars and the taxable income reporting associated with them. Calculate the annual auto income and ensure the income is included on the employee’s W-2 or T4 forms annually.
- Responsible for preparation and submission of all data to the Bureau of Labor Statistics for Multiple Worksite Reporting.
- Responsible for bank transfers to cover payroll tax liabilities. Will prepare documents as needed for Treasury and Accounting for all tax wire transactions.
- SME knowledge for executive management payments such as long-term incentive, short-term incentive, restricted stock, stock appreciation rights, stock options, severance, etc. is required.
- Responsible for tax authority maintenance, which includes new registration, address changes and closing tax accounts.
- Responsible for the tax process with mergers and acquisitions to ensure all tax requirements are completed.
- Responsible for both internal and external payroll tax audits.

You Have:

Your Purpose:

Job Summary:
This position monitors and assists in controlling incoming and outgoing vehicles, shipments and containers through use scale and software systems. All activity must be accounted for and accurately documented on scale tickets, bills of lading, purchase orders and packing slips, etc.
Nature and Scope:
Directly reporting to the Division Manager, the Scale Operator must regularly communicate with dispatch personnel and other scale operators to assist with company vehicle traffic and all incoming and outgoing yard traffic. This position interacts frequently with yard operations including but not limited to emergency contact for yard operations, material receiving personnel, internal and external drivers as well as management, sales and I.T. personnel.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Enthusiastic greeting of customers and ascertain material grade including all necessary paperwork needed to safely direct all incoming loads to the proper locations throughout the facility.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions by weighing of all customers vehicles, carriers, and company vehicles on main scale. Record supplier, truck or car identification, contract number (if appropriate), description and grade of material, gross, tare and net weights, and discharge location of the load. This includes accurate recording of load deductions (non-conforming material), re-pricing as directed by Buyers, printing and distributing scale tickets as required.
- Maintain daily records of all purchases and sales transactions including proper assignment of purchase and sales order numbers to inbound and outbound material.
- Process scale payments including processing payment adjustments; contact the Buyer to adjust or add in contracts; remove temporary pricing, address and mail out payments as per customer request, fax scale tickets to customers as per their request.
- Create issue and submit cheques to the proper signing authority with proper back up documentation and distribute as requested.
- Issue cash payments for customers that require immediate payment.
- Must be able to manage difficult customer situations effectively and professionally.
- Answer main telephone line and redirect all calls accordingly.

Job Summary:
The laborer is an entry level position, reflecting employees with no previous knowledge or experience related to scrap metals and recycling. The laborer must have the ability to learn and a strong work ethic. The laborer will assist in several aspects of daily operations such as scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance as directed.
Under the safety standards of Gerdau the laborer will learn to operate mobile equipment and perform general maintenance duties on machinery. The laborer must have strong communication skills and use them at all times to ensure safety among co-workers, truck drivers, peddlers, and contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all of the established Gerdau safety, environmental, and routine procedures specific to the yard
- Operate the fork-lift while progressing towards loader operation and material handler operation to assist in the loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
- Inspect incoming scrap against quality and environmental standards with a progression towards grading and purchasing scrap material
- Apply deductions to non-conforming materials through effective communication with the scale house or yard inspector
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC)
- Detect and report faulty tools, equipment, environmental hazards, and safety hazards to a supervisor
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion

Locations with Rail:
- For Operations that have rail; shift full and empty cars, operate locomotive, activate switches, couple and uncouple cars, and set brakes or wheel blocks as requested, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

- Ensure non-conforming objects have been removed from incoming scrap vehicles such as gas tanks (drained and removed), propane tanks, and batteries
- Ensure radioactive materials are removed from inbound/outbound scrap material and quarantined properly

- Assist in non-ferrous sorting and processing as directed by non-ferrous operator

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engineering Intern Student will provide technical coordination and support in the operating and capital expense management processes for the department alongside the Engineering Department. This position reports directly to the senior member of the engineering team for assignments. Your Work:

Job Summary:
Perform a variety of coordinating, checking, verifying, inputting, recording, and filing duties pertaining primarily to the receipt and inspection of scrap coming into the mill by truck. The primary duty of this position is to properly inspect and verify scrap grade and order number. Improper scrap identification or misapplication could result in overpayment per truckload. Operation of peddler scale, pricing, and inspection of scrap.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as Scale Coordinator to properly weigh incoming and outgoing that trucks deliver scrap.
- Utilize electronic scale to obtain a gross weight for the load using the weighing system, and coordinate unloading destination with yard personnel.
- Consult with the scrap representatives and the scrap supplier for clarification on scrap grade prices.
- Complete the weighing process to determine traffic and net weight for the load.
- Process loads of scrap moved by weighing the trucks in accordance with standard processing procedures.
- Operates forklift to move scrap metal as needed.
- Processes non-ferrous products and runs alligator shear and balers.
- Provide daily reporting of radiation detection.
- Using established company procedures, visually inspect scrap for grade/quality.
- Notifies supervisor when dirty cars or trucks are identified or cars or trucks that monitoring devices indicate contain explosive or radioactive materials.

BASIC FUNCTION (Primary Purpose):

JOB OVERVIEW:
This project management position also serves in an advisory or consulting capacity coach to all levels of employees, contractors, and plant management. The Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager for the Whitby and Cambridge Mills and will actively participate in the technical development for the Engineering department and maintenance personnel. This position has direct responsibility for specific projects with medium complexity and values ranging from $50,000 up to $5,000,000 or more. The incumbent will be required to travel, possibly for an extended period, to work on CAPEX projects. Project managers at Gerdau are responsible for all aspects of projects; from the development of the investment proposal, to engineering and design, to overseeing fabrication, to construction supervision, and finally to the training of operators and tradespeople.
An Engineer is expected to have valuable experience that improves the quality of execution of projects within the steel industry. The incumbent must have an engineering specialty in at least one field that is applicable to Gerdau’s operations in Ontario, and they must be able to provide value to the business in that field. The applicant must have at least 5 years of previous experience in heavy industry.
