Job Description:
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this position's main focus will be to install, construct, adjust, modify and service all types of electronic equipment, including PLC's and electrical or pneumatic controls and instruments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications and instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation and inspection work to be done.
- Analyzes all types of circuits, wiring diagrams, and drawings as required to install, repair, adjust, calibrate, construct, modify or service all types of electronic devices and systems, including; communication systems, power and distribution control equipment, various mill and production equipment, electronic computing and control systems, electrical and pneumatic controls and instruments, measuring, recording, processing and control devices, indicating devices gauges, etc.
- Plans details of working procedure to determine material or replacement needs and selects a logical approach to “troubleshooting” and repair problems. Answers trouble calls. Makes sketches of parts and layouts; designs and constructs adaptions or conversions of component parts.
- Assembles, inspects, adjusts, repairs, or replaces faulty parts and wiring on all types of electronic devices. Makes mechanical and electrical repairs as required in connection with the servicing of electronic equipment.
- Inspects, dismantles, services, reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation.
- Maintains, installs, or repairs all communication wiring. Climbs on buildings, towers and mill equipment to make inspections, repairs and installations.
- Considers all safety precautions and proper isolations of circuits to cause a minimum of interference to operations. Plan and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials and principles of operation and application of equipment, etc.
- Fabricates parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
- Performs related work as required.
- Observes all safety rules.
Qualifications:
- The ideal candidate will possess an Instrumentation and Control Technician (447A) and or Red Seal accreditation
- A college Technician or Technology Diploma in Instrumentation will also be considered
- A college Technology diploma in Electrical / Electronics with Instrumentation and / or Automation speciality will also be considered
- Exposure to PM, Hydraulics, VF drives, PLC's, welding, crane work
- Experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
- Basic computer experience
- Possesses strong communication skills and a good work ethic

Job Summary:
Work involves a variety of tasks, routine in nature, including routine equipment care, safely handling material, and operations support as necessary. Part runner, spotter, checking PRAs, fire watch, overseeing Gerdau and contractors, watching multiple jobs at the same time and ongoing spotter training. Job Summary:
Plan, lay out, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, construct, modify, calibrate, test, service, and program highly complex equipment in support of steel production operation and related plant facilities. Your Purpose:
You will be responsible for the planning, setting-up, and performing the routine duties and operators necessary to cast molten steel through a continuous casting machine process. Follow prescribed methods, procedures, and operation sequence.
Your Work:
- Visually monitor computers screens in pulpit to operate the run-out equipment and cut billets to the specified length.
- Perform billet inspection, monitor billet weights/lengths and adjust as necessary.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily accountable for the supervision of an operating shift of the Melt Shop Caster. While the incumbent is restricted in decision-making in certain areas (major breakdowns, serious labor problems, selection of materials), the incumbent is given considerable latitude in the operation of the shift. This position reports directly to the General Foreperson or Department Superintendent. Hourly production workers report to the incumbent.
The incumbent must have demonstrated high learning agility, the ability to communicate effectively with all areas of the operation, and 6 to 8 years in steelmaking methods and techniques specific to their assigned area, including:
Caster – Basic metallurgical knowledge; broad casting background equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship training in order to produce all grades of carbon steel; experience in continuous casting operations, the operation of cranes and other heavy equipment; and the ability to diagnose and oversee the repair of breakdown maintenance problems with/without the support of maintenance leadership.
The incumbent is responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient use of manpower and materials, producing the maximum amount of quality steel at the lowest cost. Exercises immediate supervision over production workers involved in the operation and procedures. Directs area personnel in the performance of some mechanical maintenance functions; in coordination with the Maintenance Leadership, oversees the maintenance repair function that occurs in the assigned area. Assists, instructs, directs, develops, and trains personnel in the operational procedures involved in the designated process, along with the care of equipment used. Has direct responsibility for ensuring that all environmental guidelines are followed during the steelmaking process. In addition to these supervisory duties, the incumbent is responsible for filling out shift logs and other production and supervisory reports as required. In accomplishing the job goals and responsibilities of this position, the incumbent must communicate with the previous shift supervisor about the condition of equipment, with the General Foreperson and/or the Superintendent concerning any special problems or instructions, and with the Metallurgy/Quality personnel concerning the chemical analysis of steel to be produced.
Problems associated with this position include equipment failure, inadequate personnel training, and inadequate housekeeping practices. The main challenge of this position is maintaining the flow of work through the designated department to safely obtain the optimum production of quality steel for the least possible cost.
A majority of the incumbent’s time is spent ensuring safety compliance, training and developing team members, and directing, controlling, delegating, reviewing, checking, and eliminating ordinary difficulties, requiring the use of a wide range of procedures and the exercise of judgment in the analysis of supervisory responsibilities to determine what action would be taken within the limits of standard practice. The balance of the time is spent on such activities as production reports, personnel-related reports and records, safety programs, housekeeping, equipment preparation, and, where applicable, maintenance-related activities.
Industrial and human relations are fundamental to the effectiveness of this position, as its most significant challenge is motivating crew members and maintaining discipline and good personnel relations involving the application of company rules, regulations, and other matters affecting their work. The incumbent assists with and actively participates in departmental training and team-building efforts. The incumbent is responsible for the proper administration of the collective bargaining agreement and will also be responsible for entering payroll time and reports.

Overview
The role of the Sr. Industrial Controls Engineer is primarily two-fold. First, to be a great team member who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. Your Purpose:

Principal Responsibilities
:
- Duties will include controlling the work flow within the area of responsibility, assist in minimizing downtime/breakdowns and maximizing productivity, monitor performance, managing routine processes, and training employees in routine management standards.

- The incumbent will lead Failure Analysis when significant problems occur and compare performance to existing standards. This job is responsible for making appropriate updates to standards when needed.

JOB TITLE: Dispatcher
Basic Function:
The Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of pick-ups and deliveries for the Gerdau Ameristeel Recycling fleet of twenty-four (24) units and the customers: both divisions and third party.
The incumbent must possess a secondary school diploma, and requires the use of commercial English, grammar and arithmetic. Ideally the candidate will have two (2) years experience in the logistics/dispatch related industry.

Job Summary:
This is a summer student position; applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary institution. BASIC FUNCTION

Asset Reliability Process (ARP)/Maintenance Planner will provide coordination, direction and support for implementing and sustaining Asset Reliability Processes (ARP) to improve safety, equipment reliability, and product quality at optimum efficiency and costs by:
- Planning proactive maintenance including preventive, predictive, corrective maintenance, and project work.
- Managing non-emergency work and planned work backlog.

This position serves in an advisory capacity to support and coordinate the ARP maintenance management for scheduled and project maintenance to improve equipment reliability. This position does not have direct reports, but will facilitate down-days and outages by establishing planned work with operations, maintenance, reliability, and engineering. The ARP Planner coordinates the work execution on down-days and outage to ensure planned work complinance and quality. This position has direct responsibility for planning and scheduling proactive maintenance and project work on all equipment at their assigned location(s).
NATURE AND SCOPE
:
This position is primarily responsible for planning and coordinating proactive maintenance activities on equipment, with involvement in projects and maintenance activities that will improve the reliability of the equipment. The ARP Planner will develop job plans for all planned maintenance, predictive and preventive technologies, in conjunction with reliability technicians, reliability engineers, mill operations, maintenance personnel and suppliers.
The incumbent will provide technical assistance and maintenance expertise to assigned location(s). This position will maximize the equipment reliability using a systematic approach to plan and schedule maintenance work. The ARP Planner will facilitate weekly planning, down-days, and outage meetings. Due to the nature of manufacturing operations, the incumbent is required to work on regularly scheduled shutdowns and must be available for specific operations or projects. Some travel may be required for training to support projects.
The ARP Planner reports to a Reliability Engineer IV or Reliability Engineer V. The incumbent will work closely with operations and maintenance departments. This position will be responsible for building detailed job plans, ordering parts and services for planned work, preparing work packages, managing the backlog for planned work, and ensuring proper data management. This position is responsible for any modification to the preventive and predictive maintenance programs that might reduce maintenance cost and downtime. The ARP Planner must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, have the ability to work independently or in a team environment, perform and prioritize a variety of tasks with minimal supervision, and have a broad knowledge of computer software applications.
An ARP Planner will participate and assist with training programs for the maintenance and operations personnel regarding equipment care, new operating equipment, software, methodologies, and procedures. Due to close contact with operations, maintenance, engineering, and outside contractors and vendors, this position requires the ability to effectively communicate with associates at all levels outside and within the organization. The ARP Planner must manage the interests of all parties in creating and modifying work procedures and equipment. This position will also be required to manage other projects or duties as assigned.

- Update CMMS for new equipment and equipment changes, work plans, job plans, preventive maintenance and predictive maintenance.
- Generate CMMS reports that are utilized in all aspects of managing proactive maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS
:
Qualifications for this position include a two-year degree -OR- advanced technical training with at least 5 years experience with a high level of mastery discipline. The incumbent must have a mastery level knowledge of heavy manufacturing or other related maintenance engineering activities. The successful candidate will possess an extensive working knowledge of maintenance concepts and techniques with demonstrated expertise in asset reliability technology and systems. Primary functions are tax compliance for the Company and its subsidiaries. Your Purpose:

Job Summary:
Move finished product from rolling mill to staging area for outbound shipments with the use of mobile or material handling equipment. Assist in a variety of functions related to the Logistics Department including inventory and quality checks.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

BASIC FUNCTION
:

NATURE & SCOPE

Notes trends in most and least used items, reliability, and longevity of certain supplies. May recommend changing suppliers, vendors, reorder points, maximum quantities on hand, etc. Must be aware of the location of material stored outside the immediate Storeroom area and the other warehouses. This position is part of a team that is responsible for over $3 million of inventory in the Storeroom that is critical to the operations of this plant. Proper control of the Storeroom inventory is essential to minimize downtime.
This position’s minimum requirements are:

Your Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.

Your Purpose:
You will perform electrical maintenance and repair operations to keep equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating conditions, working in the many and diversified capacities required in maintenance. Plan, layout, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, construct, modify, calibrate, test, service, and program highly complex equipment in support of steel production operation and related plant facilities.
Your Work:
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems, using required knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems/components, as well as how they operate.
- Perform rounds and check the machinery to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications.

Job Description
Perform general maintenance and repair operations, to ensure overall plant, equipment, machinery and tools are in good operating condition while working in many of the diversified capacities required by maintenance.
Primary Function:
To inspect, repair, and make welding repairs as necessary, replace, install, adjust, and maintain all mechanical equipment, including hydraulic equipment, in a producing unit or assigned areas.
Welding test for Maintenance Technician I consists of welding 3 samples in the horizontal, flat and vertical positions in a Tee formation. Test pieces will be subject to break/bend test by offsite party.
Working Procedures:
- Completes all required regulatory/safety training & will follow all safety rules & requirements including maintaining a clean work area.
- Receives instructions covering the scheduled and emergency repair, installation, and inspection work to be done
- Performs preventative maintenance and inspects mill equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear insufficient lubrication, hydraulic system, etc. Determines the best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
- Effectively and efficiently dismantles, cleans, repairs (welding repairs when necessary), replaces, installs, maintains, assembles hydraulic equipment and lubricates mechanical equipment by the use of predictive technologies in the capabilities of pipefitter, welder, millwright, assembler, installer, etc.
- Adjusts equipment for proper operating gears, bearing, and shafts involving the application of press, sliding, and running fits. Operates simple machine tools, such as drill press, pipe-threading machine, power saw, etc.
- Babbitts and scrapes bearing as required. Erects scaffolds and performs all rigging as necessary.
- Performs all mechanical repairs as required on cranes and mobile equipment
- Lays out, installs, maintains, and repairs all types of pipe lines, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems as required.
- Repairs leaks in hydraulic systems. Replaces section of pipe that have sprung leaks. Removes and installs complete operating components, such as cylinders, oil motors, four way valves, check valves, etc. that are kept as spares for assemblies on production units, and makes necessary repairs to same.
- Changes, sets up, and adjusts equipment as required by current operation conditions
- Utilizes all required computer systems for planning, executing, and reporting
- Certification in fork truck, various overhead cranes, man-lifts (scissor lifts) and other mobile equipment as required in maintenance activities.

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Roll Shop Supervisor, this position's main focus will be to set up and operate a computer numerically controlled lathe to machine all types of new and used rolls to finished size and contour for all sections rolled in the Mill.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans working procedures from instructions, prints, computer programs, and work orders
- Slings rolls and places them in a lathe using a crane
- Centers and fastens roll in the lathe
- Barrels new rolls
- Selects and profiles cutting tools for the job in accordance with hardness, machinability, desired contour, and surface of the roll to be turned and set up in the tool holder
- Sets up and operates CNC lathe to turn any type of roll to finished size within close tolerances
- Selects and adjusts speeds and feeds for material to be cut
- Turns rolls to specifications and intermittently checks dimensions for compliance using a protractor, calipers, micrometers, rulers, straights edge, pass templates, and thickness gauges.
- Observes turning of roll, interrupts upon deviation from specifications, and corrects minor errors in a computer program by manually overriding computer
- Operates lathe manually to complete finishing of the roll such as taking out points, blending radii, and using plugs

BASIC FUNCTION
:
The Reliability Technician provides coordination and support for implementing and sustaining the Asset Reliability Processes (ARP) to improve asset health and equipment reliability which increases technical availability and reduces maintenance costs by:
- Finding the initial point of equipment failure allowing a planned and scheduled process for repair;
- Creating Failure Modes Evaluation Analysis (FMEA) and predictive matrix using historical and current equipment data;

:
This position performs condition based maintenance surveys of electrical, mechanical and process equipment utilizing Predictive Methods and equipment for vibration analysis, thermographic scans, airbourne ultrasound, specialized motor testing equipment (MCE) and NDT (nondestructive testing) methods following mill requirements and documented inspection tasks.
NATURE AND SCOPE
:
This position is primarily responsible for planning, coordinating, completing and documenting predictive condition monitoring of mill assets. Providing technical assistance and maintenance expertise to the assigned Gerdau mill location. The Reliability Technician reports directly to the Reliability Engineer IV or V.
This position will maximize the reliability of equipment using a formal, systematic/analytical approach to trouble-shooting, failure analysis, predictive/preventive maintenance and design improvements. The incumbent will participate in, and lead, special projects in maintenance activities that will improve the reliability of the equipment, optimize maintenance costs and reduce equipment downtime.
Qualifications for this position include a working knowledge of heavy manufacturing, with at least 5 years hands-on-experience in maintenance as an instrument technician, master mechanic or technician or equivalent status. Incumbent must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and must have general knowledge of a thermographer, electric motor test technician and vibration analyst in a heavy industrial environment. A technical college diploma in electrical or mechanical discipline is desired but not required.
The successful applicant will possess a strong motivation to implement new technologies, champion predictive maintenance efforts, solve complex problems, project management skills and computer skills in order to improve reliability of mill operations. This position will assist on most inspections and will perform repairs on deficiencies found via PdM tools whenever feasible.
This position will be responsible for maintaining all test reports, standard operating procedures in maintenance, and equipment reliability databases such as SAP and other maintenance related software systems. Equipment routes will be developed with all predictive technologies in conjunction with Reliability Engineer and mill operating and maintenance departments.
Due to close contact with operating management and personnel, outside contractors and vendors, this position requires the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities and interests to achieve optimal results. The incumbent must manage the interests of all parties in creating and modifying work procedures and equipment without compromise to safety, quality, cost or environment.
The incumbent will work within the Gerdau Business System (GBS) and SAP or other CMMS system to monitor and manage performance. Key indicators will be developed in support of ARP assessment. This position will also participate, organize and conduct training programs for the maintenance personnel regarding new testing equipment, new operating equipment, software, methodologies and procedures.
Due to the nature of manufacturing operations the incumbent may be required to be on-call and must have high availability depending on the requirement of the operation or project being managed.
Responsible for staying abreast of current technology and recommending changes to effect continual improvement of production processes. The incumbent should also possess a broad knowledge of maintenance concepts and techniques.
The incumbent will be required to manage other special projects as assigned.

- Develop procedures and practices to use testing equipment such as laser alignment, balancing devices, etc.
- Act as an interface between maintenance and engineering groups on all new capital expenditures, and assist in the development of equipment specifications to ensure that predictive and preventative maintenance tools can be implemented effectively.

This position is responsible for assisting with loss prevention and control systems, as they relate to health and safety, and providing technical support for improvement efforts. The Safety Specialist will assist management with the development and implementation of a safety management system aimed at preventing and controlling losses.
The Safety Specialist reports directly to the Safety Manager and assists with the development, identification, and implementation of management tools to support the safety management system that is congruent with performance expectations. Your Qualifications:

Your Work:
- Operate a 270 ton overhead charging crane to pick-up and transport scrap bucket from scrap loading area to the furnace for charging. Lift, move, and position raw materials and refill material bins as needed. Perform electrode addition functions.
- Use judgment to plan, perform, and make decisions as to the sequence of material movement and handling procedures required to service melt shop area in a timely and efficient manner.
- Manipulate or depress crane controls such as pedals/levers to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement.
- Inspect crane for defective parts and notify supervisor of defects or malfunctions.
- Unload, transfer, and aid in placing equipment, parts, electrodes, and other supplies.
- May serve as a Relief Ladle Crane Operator when regularly assigned operator is unavailable.
- Perform other crane handling operations in the melt shop as directed according to operational requirements.
- May include removal of slag pot.
- Perform routine equipment care, and record and inspect vehicles and mobile equipment, which may include fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed.

Job Summary:

The laborer must have the ability to learn and a strong work ethic. The laborer will assist in several aspects of daily operations such as scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance as directed.
Under the safety standards of Gerdau the laborer will learn to operate mobile equipment and perform general maintenance duties on machinery. The laborer must have strong communication skills and use them at all times to ensure safety among co-workers, truck drivers, peddlers, and contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all of the established Gerdau safety, environmental, and routine procedures specific to the yard
- Operate the fork-lift while progressing towards loader operation and material handler operation to assist in the loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
- Inspect incoming scrap against quality and environmental standards with a progression towards grading and purchasing scrap material
- Apply deductions to non-conforming materials through effective communication with the scale house or yard inspector
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC)

- Operate the fork-lift while progressing towards loader operation and material handler operation to assist in the loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
- Inspect incoming scrap against quality and environmental standards with a progression towards grading and purchasing scrap material
- Apply deductions to non-conforming materials through effective communication with the scale house or yard inspector
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC)
- Detect and report faulty tools, equipment, environmental hazards, and safety hazards to a supervisor
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
- Provide excellent customer service
- Promote and practice the core values of Gerdau
Locations with Rail:
- For Operations that have rail; shift full and empty cars, operate locomotive, activate switches, couple and uncouple cars, and set brakes or wheel blocks as requested, in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Ensure non-conforming objects have been removed from incoming scrap vehicles such as gas tanks (drained and removed), propane tanks, and batteries
- Ensure radioactive materials are removed from inbound/outbound scrap material and quarantined properly
- General house-keeping duties: sweep shop area and removal of garbage
- Assist in non-ferrous sorting and processing as directed by non-ferrous operator
- Assist co-workers in general operational duties that are essential to the yard in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability
- Problem solving input and contributions as required
