Your Purpose

We're looking for a detail-oriented, dependable professional to join our team as a Truck Scale Services Clerk supporting the safe and efficient movement of scrap materials through our facility.
What You'll Do
- Serve as weighmaster for all inbound and outbound trucks, trailers, and railcars.
- Process scale transactions and maintain accurate records, including truck weights, bills of lading, contracts, and shipping documents.
- Monitor and respond to radiation detection equipment in accordance with company procedures.
- Document and report radiation alarms and communicate with appropriate personnel when required.
- Enter scale tickets and maintain accurate inventory and shipment records.
- Visually inspect incoming scrap for grade and quality.
- Provide guidance to drivers, answer phones, and transmit operational updates via email, radio, and phone.
- Complete month-end tasks and support the Raw Materials Supervisor as needed.
- Help ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Ensure all drivers have been informed of and observe proper PPE requirements.
- Manage the work area by keeping all paperwork processed and neatly organized as well as maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of scale house and workstations.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of manufacturing, industrial, logistics, or shipping/receiving experience preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic computer systems.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and follow established procedures.
- Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment and multi-tasking is a must.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday rotation: One week is 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM and the next week is 3pm -11pm. Schedule repeats.
- Must be able to work weekends when needed which is rotated amongst the team.

Job Summary
Gerdau is seeking a safety-focused and detail-oriented Scrap Inspector to join our team. In this role, you will receive, process, and visually inspect incoming scrap materials to determine grade and quality according to established procedures and specifications.

Join Our Team as a Yard Operator
Gerdau is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Yard Operator to support our daily yard operations. This hands-on role is critical to the success of our scrap processing and recycling operations and offers an opportunity to build valuable skills in equipment operation, material inspection, and scrap grading.

What You'll Do
As a Yard Operator, you will:
- Follow all Gerdau safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Inspect incoming scrap materials to ensure they meet quality and environmental standards.
- Identify and communicate scrap grades, deductions, and downgrades.
- Scan all incoming materials for radiation and follow quarantine procedures when required.
- Safely operate loaders and material handling equipment to load and unload materials.
- Ensure outbound materials meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspections and routine equipment care.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Provide exceptional customer service to suppliers and customers.

You Have:

Your Purpose:

Solar Pile Operator Night Shift

Job Summary:
This is an entry level position for the Solar Pile fabrication facility. The incumbent will be responsible for painting finished product according to standards and general material handling. Will also perform general utility functions to assist operators, maintenance, and leadership as needed. This position is night shift.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for painting finished product according to customer specifications using paint sprayers and/or brushes. This includes proper preparation of the paint and painting equipment and maintaining the paint area in an organized and clean manner.
- Upon completion of painting, incumbent will be responsible to ensure the product is tagged correctly for proper placement in the inventory yard.
- Assist with inventory management by accurately identifying and counting bundles and validating the physical location of materials.
- Efficiently and safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts, including the completion of required pre-use inspections.
- Assists forklift drivers with cutting banding or tags, scanning bundles, and handling dunnage.
- Safely handles the movement of materials (crop cuts, dunnage, scrap, slugs, et) in the production facility and outside work areas for efficient access and/or appropriate disposal. This includes emptying scrap buckets and restocking materials as needed.
- Perform quality checks to ensure customers receive prime material that meets their specification and expectations. Visual inspections include but are not limited to: ensuring proper paint color, squareness, length, appropriate hole cuts, saw cuts, and bar quality.
- Responsible for the tagging function which includes refilling tags at the tagging robot and manually tagging product as needed.
- Assists team members with the rework process following established guidelines.
- Follow ISO standards and practices striving for zero defects, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate production records.
Additional Responsibilities:
- This position will be required to work some overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays depending on production goals.
- Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate with other team members, leadership, customers, and suppliers.
- Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules/guidelines for tasks being performed. This includes immediately reporting any incident or accident that can reasonably affect someone’s safety, effectiveness of the work process, or equipment conditions.
- Follow all environmental regulatory requirements.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition following 5S standards.
- Assists in training of coworkers as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic understanding of English, written and verbal.
- General math skills
- Basic ability to use a computer, touch screens and scanning guns
- 1-2 years experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Lead Financial Analyst function within the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) group is a leading contributor role supporting the FP&A Manager for Planning and Strategy, Operations Management, and Business Development. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Must be capable of safely operating large forklifts, overhead cranes, and other mobile equipment to move material in the solar pile fabrication process. This includes completion of all required pre-use inspections, routine equipment care, and optimizing movement of material for operational efficiency.
- Accurately follow the production schedule and load conveyor systems with the correct steel product at the infeed.
- General material handling which includes offloading mill material, loading material onto the infeed table, offloading finished product at the outfeed table, and general movement of inventory and/or materials inside and outside the shop.

Your Purpose:
You will be responsible for some duties primarily servicing the ladle metallurgy station, the casting machine billet run-out area, ladles, electric arc furnace, and the brick crew operations.
Your Work:
- Will involve simple routine tasks and physical in nature, requiring some care to safely use heavy tools in digging out ladles, shoveling materials, taking temperatures, and obtaining samples at the Ladle Metalurgical Station (LMS), and when operating the forklift and bobcat.
- Will assist LMS Operator when making alloy and slag additions, taking temperature, and assisting with lancing heats.
- Will assist the brick crew with removing refractories from used ladles, tundishes, etc. using heavy pry bars and pneumatic tools, shovel, and dump out brick and slag refuse.
- Will assist in cleaning furnace and surrounding pit area, ladle car track area, tilt cylinders, casting spray changer, and billet run-out area during downtime using hand tools such as a shovel, picks, crowbar, cutting torch, and broom.
- Will assist in hooking up, setting and unhooking ladles, materials, etc. in conjunction with the crane.
- Will assist casting crew with torch cutting scrap billets when necessary.
- Will assist the operator of the track mobile in switching scrap into the stock house.

BASIC FUNCTION:
This position monitors and assists in controlling incoming and outgoing vehicles, shipments and containers through use scale and software systems. All activity must be accounted for and accurately documented on scale tickets, bills of lading, purchase orders and packing slips, etc.
NATURE & SCOPE:
Directly reporting to the Division Manager, the Scale Operator must regularly communicate with dispatch personnel and other scale operators to assist with company vehicle traffic and all incoming and outgoing yard traffic. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Ensure accurate documentation of all inbound and outbound scale transactions by weighing of all customers vehicles, carriers, and company vehicles on main scale. Primary Function

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position’s job responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot AC/DC motors, controls, PLC, electrical drives, low/medium/high voltage systems.

Job Summary:
The Yard Operator has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Yard Operator requires knowledge of scrap grading, or have the ability to learn. The Yard Operator will assist in several aspects of daily operational needs such as scrap inspection, ferrous and non-ferrous purchasing, mobile equipment operation, and performing general maintenance duties.
The Yard Operator will be expected to safely operate a material handling crane or loader in order to accomplish daily tasks. They must communicate regularly with the scale, supervisor, other coworkers, and customers about the quality of material and shipping requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
- Work involves a variety of tasks, simple through moderately complex in nature, requiring some care to ensure correct procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and that all material that fails the scan is quarantined and the appropriate personnel are notified.
- Operate the loader and/or the material handler to assist in loading and unloading scrap material, while following the quality standards of Gerdau and the customer.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap inspected against quality, and environmental standards and appropriate deductions and downgrades are applied. Communicate findings with the scale in a timely manner.
- Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality. Identify deductions and downgrades.
- Ensure that all outbound materials meets safety and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
- Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, safety, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion.

You have:

Your Work:
- Operate standard factory-equipped diesel straight truck and tractor with roll-off trailers, dump trailers and van trailers to pick-up a variety of steel products and accessory items from Gerdau steel suppliers.
- Follow standard or prescribed methods or procedures. Work involves a complete range of duties, somewhat repetitive and routine in nature, requiring considerable care to drive tractor/trailer vehicle in a correct and safe manner, properly loading of trucks, and compliance with all DOT laws, rules, and regulations.
- Good working conditions in closed truck cab free from weather elements except in occasional unloading. Subject to some noise, vibration, and fumes, but none to the extent of being disagreeable.
- Make deliveries and/or pick-ups, operating from verbal, written or electronic instructions, invoices, bills of lading, shipping tickets, etc.
- Keep accurate and legible records such as Driver’s Trip Reports, Driver’s Daily Log, Vehicle Inspection Report, and Driver’s Weekly Expense Report.
- Maintain polite, courteous, and diplomatic relations with either customers, receivers, or suppliers with whom contact is made. May be required to contact the supplier for location/placement of roll-off bin.
- Assist loading or unloading; unload without help as necessary; tie down the load with chains or cinches; attach markers for overhang.

BASIC FUNCTION
The Improvement Facilitator’s responsibility is to identify, develop, and implement opportunities for improvement in processes, products, and production within the Roll Shop. NATURE & SCOPE:

· Identify best practices and act as a change agent to help achieve a higher level of results by utilizing and implementing improvement processes.

· Collaborate with Routine Facilitators on subjects pertaining to the processes, improvement standards, CAPEX, audits, 5S initiatives, failure analysis, results management, QIS, FA, Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Materials Science

· Previous experience in manufacturing operations, supervisory or facilitation roles
· Experience in using AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent software

Job Summary:
The laborer is an entry level position, reflecting employees with no previous knowledge or experience related to scrap metals and recycling. The laborer must have the ability to learn and a strong work ethic. The laborer will assist in several aspects of daily operations such as scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance as directed.
Under the safety standards of Gerdau the laborer will learn to operate mobile equipment and perform general maintenance duties on machinery. The laborer must have strong communication skills and use them at all times to ensure safety among co-workers, truck drivers, peddlers, and contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all of the established Gerdau safety, environmental, and routine procedures specific to the yard
- Operate the fork-lift while progressing towards loader operation and material handler operation to assist in the loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
- Inspect incoming scrap against quality and environmental standards with a progression towards grading and purchasing scrap material
- Apply deductions to non-conforming materials through effective communication with the scale house or yard inspector
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC)
- Detect and report faulty tools, equipment, environmental hazards, and safety hazards to a supervisor
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
- Provide excellent customer service

Locations with Rail:
- For Operations that have rail; shift full and empty cars, operate locomotive, activate switches, couple and uncouple cars, and set brakes or wheel blocks as requested, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

- Ensure non-conforming objects have been removed from incoming scrap vehicles such as gas tanks (drained and removed), propane tanks, and batteries
- Ensure radioactive materials are removed from inbound/outbound scrap material and quarantined properly
- General house-keeping duties: sweep shop area and removal of garbage
- Assist in non-ferrous sorting and processing as directed by non-ferrous operator

Turning Bay Operator
The Turning Bay Operator is responsible for the safe operation, setup, quality inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Turning Bay equipment while ensuring customer requirements and production standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, set up, and monitor all Turning Bay equipment, including the Rattunde, Turner, Polisher, Hex Bundler, Galdabini Bump Straightener, NDT equipment, demag, and transfer car.
- Load and unload trucks accurately and ensure material is routed to the correct location.
- Enter production data into HTIS hourly and maintain accurate production records and tallies.
- Perform quality inspections, gauge verification, testing equipment verification, and 100% ZF inspections.

Job Summary:
The Yard Operator has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Yard Operator requires knowledge of scrap grading, or have the ability to learn. The Yard Operator will assist in several aspects of daily operational needs such as scrap inspection, ferrous and non-ferrous purchasing, mobile equipment operation, and performing general maintenance duties.
The Yard Operator will be expected to safely operate a material handling crane or loader in order to accomplish daily tasks. They must communicate regularly with the scale, supervisor, other coworkers, and customers about the quality of material and shipping requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
- Work involves a variety of tasks, simple through moderately complex in nature, requiring some care to ensure correct procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and that all material that fails the scan is quarantined and the appropriate personnel are notified.
- Operate the loader and/or the material handler to assist in loading and unloading scrap material, while following the quality standards of Gerdau and the customer.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap inspected against quality, and environmental standards and appropriate deductions and downgrades are applied. Communicate findings with the scale in a timely manner.
- Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality. Identify deductions and downgrades.
- Ensure that all outbound materials meets safety and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
- Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, safety, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion.
- Provide excellent customer service.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILTIES
•The Environmental Specialist II must keep up-to-date with environmental regulations and provide guidance
and assistance to Mill management to assure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local environmental
regulations and radiation procedures. This position reports directly to the Mill Environmental Manager.
Direct or dotted line (varies by location) reporting to the incumbent are non exempt/ hourly employees
assigned to tend to environmental/radiation equipment and related areas.
•The Environmental Specialist II collects, or oversees the collection of, samples and data required for various
environmental permits. The position is also responsible for preparation, submission , and timely filing of all
environmental reports, including annual Tier II, TRI, hazardous waste, superfund, Title V, NPDES, radiation
protection and various other environmental reporting which must be certified true and accurate by the
company. Additionally this position is responsible for coordinating permitting of all sources of air emissions,
landfills, wastewater discharges, solid waste management, and storm water runoff for the mill site including
any applicable contractor support functions.
•The incumbent will train employees in environmental policy, as well as participate in the development of and
adhere to Environmental Compliance Plans, such as SPCC and SWPPP. In cases where appropriate training is
not in place, the incumbent will develop new training programs and presentations. In addition, the
Environmental Specialist II will assist plant operators and engineering in the planning of new or updated
emissions control equipment or mill modifications, including review of new facilities and equipment to assure
compliance with all applicable regulations.
•The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and directing the radiation control program for all onsite
operations. This includes monitoring, calibrating, and testing all radiation detection devices and ensuring
proper response to all radiation detection alarms; developing procedures for handling radiation alarms; and
developing proceduring for responding to the possibility of a radioactive melt.
•The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and directing activities associated with any on-site landfill. This
includes performing, monitoring and testing activities; ground water monitoring; landfill inspections including
stormwater drainage, vegetative or synthetic cover, and managing design, construction, related projects,
maintenance and repairs.The Environmental Specialist II is responsible for implementing the environmental management system
(EMS), the environmental conformance rating (ECR) program, and key performance indicator (KPI)
monitoring programs. This position also actively supports the Environmental Manager in developing and implementing environmental action plans, environmental capital expenditure projects, GBS strategic
directions, and safety responsibilities.
•The Environmental Specialist II obtains and provides direction, guidance, and assistance and influences
operating departments as required to assure adherence to the environmental policy and to the Environmental
Management System (EMS) and to assure the most efficient and effective use of resources required for
remediation activities and for short-term and long-term environmental compliance in line with Company
policy and under the general direction of the Mill Environmental Manager. Due to close contact with
operating management and personnel, and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, the position requires
the ability and maturity to effectively communicate with a variety of personalities and interests,sometimes under adversarial conditions or time constraints.
•The major challenge of this position is to implement programs,practices and procedures under the general
direction of the plant Environmental Manager to assure continuous short term and long term compliance with environmental regulations.

Job Summary:
Performs maintenance necessary to keep plant, equipment, machinery, and tools in good operating condition. Work involves a wide range of methods and procedures on a variety of routine and non-routine duties to diagnose, dismantle, repair, lubricate, and reassemble equipment adequately and accurately. Troubleshoots basic mechanical assemblies to determine whether a pump, gearbox, hydraulic system, or pneumatic system can be repaired, or replaced.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works from drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, machine operation and maintenance manuals, work order requests, and oral instructions to install, adjust, repair, and perform assigned maintenance duties.

- Inspects and performs routine equipment care on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, and cranes.

- Cuts, bends, and threads conduit, pipe, and tubing.
- Maintains specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage.
- Requires interpretation of schematics/blueprints at an intermediate level.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Operates mobile equipment to lift and transport materials including loaders, cranes, man-lifts, brick-lift, and forklifts.
- Ensures daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles/mobile equipment to include fueling, cleaning, checking and adding fluid as needed.
- Follows all PPE requirements and safety rules/guidelines for all tasks being performed. Assists in training of coworkers as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap appropriate for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of Manager – Raw Materials, the incumbent will be responsible for executing the approved plan to accomplish the objective of minimizing overall of maximizing return for the operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with available suppliers including active solicitation of new supply sources, within assigned region. The supplier base will include established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
This position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with other personnel, transportation, scrap inspection and accounting personnel.
Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 -3 year of relevant experience with 1 year experience directly related to buying and selling scrap. In addition, incumbent should possess knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials, along with some knowledge of transportation issues and scrap yard operations.
The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business and must possess strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills. Candidate must function effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. High ethical standards and a strong work ethic are key attributes. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers. This position requires regular weekly travel to complete job duties and maintain an effective network of vendors, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the cost-effective procurement of scrap. The Incumbent must stay abreast of current market trends and be aware of regional scrap markets and competitive situations/practices. Requires utilizing a network of sources to understand market activity and determine the needs of the mill/s supplied. The incumbent will procure scrap based on the specific terms of purchase contracts within established policies and procedures, reviews and/or approves the incoming invoices and document vendor performance. This position also serves as a liaison between Yard personnel and scrap suppliers. This position will provide commercial information used in analyzing inventory requirements
As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. Candidate must actively coordinate any such issues with appropriate administrative and accounting personnel.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Recruit new supply sources for scrap in the local regional market.
2. Primarily responsible for the procurement of scrap Metals.
3. Incumbent will maintain effective business relationships with current supplier base and seek out new sources of scrap that will assist in meeting procurement objectives within established policies and procedures.
4. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers.
5. Stay abreast of current market trends and competitive situations/practices in order to meet the needs of the operations supplied.
6. Provide information to management and Transportation to help develop cost avoidance and savings opportunities in the purchase, transportation and processing of scrap.
7. Serve as liaison between plant management and scrap suppliers.
8. Review scrap order shipment status weekly and make necessary adjustments to insure timely receipt of goods purchased and proper order application.
9. Within established policies, resolve discrepancies primarily pertaining to grading, weight settlement, order application, and other disputes with vendors and Operations personnel. Issues must be resolved tactfully to maintain sound and effective relationships.
10. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms-and-conditions and safety and environmental compliance requirements to shippers and plant personnel.
11. Candidate must maintain computer literacy in procurement systems, with proficiency in company scrap information systems and other business applications.

Yard Operator
Job Summary
Gerdau is seeking a motivated and safety-focused Yard Operator to join our operations team. This role is critical to the daily success of our yard operations and requires a versatile individual who can perform a variety of tasks related to scrap inspection, material handling, purchasing support, and equipment operation.
The successful candidate will have knowledge of scrap grading or the ability and willingness to learn. As a Yard Operator, you will safely operate loaders and material handling equipment, inspect incoming and outgoing materials, maintain operational standards, and provide exceptional customer service while supporting Gerdau's commitment to safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all established Gerdau safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
- Participate in daily safety meetings and routines.
- Identify and report safety hazards, environmental concerns, equipment issues, and improper operating conditions.

Material Inspection & Quality Control
- Ensure all incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and properly quarantined if it fails inspection protocols.
- Inspect incoming scrap materials for quality and environmental compliance.
- Verify scrap grades and quality standards while identifying deductions and downgrades as required.
- Communicate inspection findings promptly and accurately with scale personnel.
- Ensure all outbound materials meet company safety and quality requirements.
Equipment Operation
- Safely operate loaders, material handlers, and other mobile equipment to load and unload scrap materials.
- Perform and document Routine Equipment Care (REC) inspections daily.
- Assist with general yard maintenance and operational support as needed.
Customer Service & Teamwork
- Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, supervisors, and scale operators.
- Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining operational efficiency.

Rail Operations (Location Dependent)
For locations with rail operations, additional duties may include:
- Shifting full and empty rail cars.
- Operating a locomotive in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Activating rail switches.
- Coupling and uncoupling rail cars.
- Setting brakes and wheel blocks as required.
Qualifications
Preferred
- Previous experience in scrap metal recycling, materials handling, or heavy equipment operation.
- Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap grading.

JOB SUMMARY:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap appropriate for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of Manager – Raw Materials, the incumbent will be responsible for executing the approved plan to accomplish the objective of minimizing overall of maximizing return for the operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with available suppliers including active solicitation of new supply sources, within assigned region. The supplier base will include established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
This position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with other personnel, transportation, scrap inspection and accounting personnel.
Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 -3 year of relevant experience with 1 year experience directly related to buying and selling scrap. In addition, incumbent should possess knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials, along with some knowledge of transportation issues and scrap yard operations.
The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business and must possess strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills. Candidate must function effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. High ethical standards and a strong work ethic are key attributes. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers. This position requires regular weekly travel to complete job duties and maintain an effective network of vendors, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the cost-effective procurement of scrap. The Incumbent must stay abreast of current market trends and be aware of regional scrap markets and competitive situations/practices. Requires utilizing a network of sources to understand market activity and determine the needs of the mill/s supplied. The incumbent will procure scrap based on the specific terms of purchase contracts within established policies and procedures, reviews and/or approves the incoming invoices and document vendor performance. This position also serves as a liaison between Yard personnel and scrap suppliers. This position will provide commercial information used in analyzing inventory requirements
As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. Candidate must actively coordinate any such issues with appropriate administrative and accounting personnel.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Recruit new supply sources for scrap in the local regional market.
2. Primarily responsible for the procurement of scrap Metals.
3. Incumbent will maintain effective business relationships with current supplier base and seek out new sources of scrap that will assist in meeting procurement objectives within established policies and procedures.
4. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers.
5. Stay abreast of current market trends and competitive situations/practices in order to meet the needs of the operations supplied.
6. Provide information to management and Transportation to help develop cost avoidance and savings opportunities in the purchase, transportation and processing of scrap.
7. Serve as liaison between plant management and scrap suppliers.
8. Review scrap order shipment status weekly and make necessary adjustments to insure timely receipt of goods purchased and proper order application.
9. Within established policies, resolve discrepancies primarily pertaining to grading, weight settlement, order application, and other disputes with vendors and Operations personnel. Issues must be resolved tactfully to maintain sound and effective relationships.
10. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms-and-conditions and safety and environmental compliance requirements to shippers and plant personnel.

Job Summary:
The Mobile Equipment Operator yard will operate mobile crane, magnet crane, mobile shear, and stationary shear to process scrap materials, load and unload scrap from trucks or railcars, and move scrap within the yard as required.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.

- Use magnet crane to load/unload scrap from customer vehicles into appropriate piles or railcars in order to process for shipping.
- Use mobile equipment to lift and move scrap from one area of the yard to another.

- Assist with yard housekeeping efforts and perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.
- Assist co-workers in daily operational duties that are essential to the yard in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability.

Job Summary:
Operates heavy mobile equipment specific to scrap operations area to include a mobile crane with a hydraulic grapple or front end loader to process, handle, and weigh scrap material. Unload scrap material from incoming sources and load scrap from existing piles onto transport or non-ferrous processing equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for safely operating mobile equipment to include hydraulic grapple crane, magnet crane, front end loader and other mobile equipment in scrap operations.
Exercises extreme care in picking up and transporting loads, clearing obstacles and properly positioning lifts to prevent production delays, damage to equipment or property and/or injury to others. Maintains heightened awareness of surroundings at all times to include pedestrians, mobile equipment, rail traffic, etc.
Inspect scrap for any non-conforming material for quality, grade, and safety purposes. This inspection process is critical to the operation and requires continuous attention in order to avoid errors and equipment damage.
Sort and separate scrap according to grade in order to properly maintain scrap piles for inventory control.
Watch operation of surrounding conveyors and equipment, and communicate any problems to responsible personnel.
Move and weigh material, accurately recording weight, product, and location.
Functions as relief for the Mobile Equipment Operator positions requiring versatility to adequately carry out the normal operator duties during the substitution period.
Perform routine equipment care such as lubrication, greasing, fueling and cleaning of mobile equipment.
Additional Responsibilities:
Monitor all loads and material for potential fire hazards.
Follows all PPE requirements and safety rules/guidelines for all tasks being performed.
Maintains communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
Work independently and as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.

Job Summary:
The Yard Operator has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Yard Operator requires knowledge of scrap grading, or have the ability to learn. The Yard Operator will assist in several aspects of daily operational needs such as scrap inspection, ferrous and non-ferrous purchasing, mobile equipment operation, and performing general maintenance duties.
The Yard Operator will be expected to safely operate a material handling crane or loader in order to accomplish daily tasks. They must communicate regularly with the scale, supervisor, other coworkers, and customers about the quality of material and shipping requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
- Work involves a variety of tasks, simple through moderately complex in nature, requiring some care to ensure correct procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and that all material that fails the scan is quarantined and the appropriate personnel are notified.
- Operate the loader and/or the material handler to assist in loading and unloading scrap material, while following the quality standards of Gerdau and the customer.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap inspected against quality, and environmental standards and appropriate deductions and downgrades are applied. Communicate findings with the scale in a timely manner.
- Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality. Identify deductions and downgrades.
- Ensure that all outbound materials meets safety and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
- Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, safety, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion.

Locations with Rail:

Qualifications for this position include background and experience as may be demonstrated by one with experience of 10-12 years with scrap yard and automobile shredder operations, procedures, techniques, equipment requirements, installation, maintenance and modification and a working knowledge of metallurgical qualities of all the different types and grades of scrap steel that will meet the requirements of ASTM Standards for carbon steel, merchant quality, special bar quality, and forging quality steel. A 4-year technical and/or business management degree or the equivalent is preferred. Proven leadership in scrap processing is required.
The Scrap Operations Superintendent oversees the entire scrap operations for the Midlothian Mill through subordinate supervisors engaged in a wide variety of work to include managing the shredder, scrap yard, and rail car dismantling operations; procurement of car bodies and shredder feed from local scrap dealers for the shredder, receiving, inspecting, transfer, placement, blending, and timely delivery of scrap to the Melt Shop Operations. The incumbent will develop standard operating procedures for the shredder, scrap yard and rail car dismantling operations; design, installation, modification and maintenance of all equipment at the shredder, scrap yard and rail car dismantling operations; dismantling and shearing of rail cars; salvaging, maintaining, and shipment of rail car parts resold on an aftermarket basis; overseeing the landfill operations for non-metallic waste from the shredder and rail car dismantling operations; insuring that environmental permit requirements are maintained. Manage all administrative, HR, accounting, and quality activities for all scrap related operations at the Midlothian Mill and coordinate closely with the Melt Shop Superintendent and corporate raw materials department in the performance of job duties.
Coordinate and cooperate with all departments and personnel on all matters of mutual concern or interrelated responsibility. Advise and instruct subordinates as to objectives or regarding any problems of schedules, methods, standards, materials, quality, shipping, equipment, tooling, safety, cost, discipline, personnel policies, environmental practices and procedures, or other matters affecting operation of the mill or shipments. Make related decisions within established policy precedent and any applicable federal and state guidelines.
Incumbent establishes production methods, procedures and techniques, anticipates delays and takes corrective action. Establish work schedules, research and recommend capital expenditures, equipment installation and/or modifications, and design changes for improved efficiency.
Maintain inventory of operational supplies and coordinate with Purchasing in order to maintain inventory. Responsible for inventory security.
Assist and direct subordinate supervisors and personnel as necessary to insure proper performance of duties. Anticipate or investigate delays, inadequate work performance, and take necessary corrective action within limits of established practices. Coordinate and track department teambuilding efforts. Check works in process, as necessary, for conformance to standards and specifications. Conduct and attend various meetings. Make effective recommendations to meet changing requirements. Investigate and recommend cost controls.

JOB SUMMARY:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap appropriate for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of Manager – Raw Materials, the incumbent will be responsible for executing the approved plan to accomplish the objective of minimizing overall of maximizing return for the operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap in an economical and efficient manner. This position will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective relations with available suppliers including active solicitation of new supply sources, within assigned region. The supplier base will include established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
This position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with other personnel, transportation, scrap inspection and accounting personnel.
Qualifications for this position include a minimum of 2 -3 year of relevant experience with 1 year experience directly related to buying and selling scrap. In addition, incumbent should possess knowledge of sources and grades of raw materials, along with some knowledge of transportation issues and scrap yard operations.
The incumbent must be a self-starter with the ability to initiate business and must possess strong negotiating, communication, math and problem-solving skills. Candidate must function effectively both independently and as a member of a cross-functional team. High ethical standards and a strong work ethic are key attributes. Incumbent will support commercial practices based on established policies to ensure fair, ethical and productive relationships with suppliers. This position requires regular weekly travel to complete job duties and maintain an effective network of vendors, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
The incumbent’s primary responsibility is the cost-effective procurement of scrap. The Incumbent must stay abreast of current market trends and be aware of regional scrap markets and competitive situations/practices. Requires utilizing a network of sources to understand market activity and determine the needs of the mill/s supplied. The incumbent will procure scrap based on the specific terms of purchase contracts within established policies and procedures, reviews and/or approves the incoming invoices and document vendor performance. This position also serves as a liaison between Yard personnel and scrap suppliers. This position will provide commercial information used in analyzing inventory requirements
As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. Candidate must actively coordinate any such issues with appropriate administrative and accounting personnel.

What You Will Do

NATURE AND SCOPE:
The Regional Energy Manager is responsible for securing and maintaining competitive arrangements for the supply of electricity, natural gas, industrial gases, fuels, and similar supply and services necessary to meet the energy requirements of the Company’s operations in a designated geography for example North, Central, South. However the designated geographies will change as the Company’s needs change due to growth.
Qualifications for the position include a broad knowledge of energy purchasing, utility regulation, markets, prices, accounting procedures, steel manufacturing energy uses and costs, and supply sources. The incumbent should have a minimum of five to seven years of relevant experience and a four year degree or equivalent additional work experience.
The incumbent is responsible for analyzing, developing, coordinating and implementing effective procurement strategies; keeping abreast of conditions and forecasts in the energy markets; identifying and pursuing improvement opportunities; collaborating with plant management and personnel to assure effective implementation of supply arrangements; complying with established risk management, accounting and related policies and procedures; and insuring the most efficient use of resources. The Regional Energy Manager develops and maintains effective business and professional contacts to keep abreast of market conditions, opportunities and trends while developing supply sources and maintaining favorable vendor relations. The incumbent will prepare requests for proposals, contracts, studies of relevant issues, forecasts and maintain adequate files and records to compile periodic reports.
Incumbent studies and analyzes business unit consumption and requirements for energy and related supplies and consults with plant management and users in order to adequately meet operational needs. Obtains competitive bids as required and negotiates major supply arrangements under the general direction of the Director of Energy.

Basic Function:
Provide health care services to all employees and contractors at Gerdau's Manitoba Mill, Recycling and Bradley locations.
Job Summary:
Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, you are in daily contact with managers, supervisors, administrative staff, hourly employees, contractors, union representatives & safety captains regarding injuries, first aid treatment, annual hearing tests, wellness initiatives (including EAP), first aid kit supplies & Disability Management issues.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- You are responsible for:
- Supporting and administering the Disability Management program including return to work coordination and WCB processes/reporting
- The hearing conservation program and medical screenings
- Delivering health education and promoting preventative care initiatives
- Wellness programs (such as gym membership benefits program information, EAP referrals)
- Providing on-site first aid treatment to employees and contractors
- Review/analyze incident report data on a monthly/annual basis with site leadership and recommend corrective action to improve results
- Assist with other safety program activities as required
Qualifications:
- BN, RN, LPN, or Occupational Health Nursing Certificate designation
- Licensed Industrial Audiometric Technician (LIAT) or willingness to obtain
- 3-5 years Occupational Health Nursing in a manufacturing setting is preferred
- Emergency response experience
- Ergonomic experience is a definite asset
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in maintaining reports and documentation
