Position Summary
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by minimizing equipment downtime through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. This role provides leadership and technical guidance to maintenance personnel while coordinating daily maintenance activities and ensuring operational excellence across the facility.
The successful candidate will work closely with supervisors, superintendents, and other departments to resolve maintenance challenges, improve equipment reliability, and support production goals.
What You'll Do
- Lead and support maintenance personnel in daily repair and maintenance activities
- Assign projects and repairs while providing technical and hands-on support when needed
- Maintain plant equipment in a safe, functional, and productive operating condition
- Execute and support preventive maintenance programs for cranes, motors, machinery, and related equipment
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and automation-related issues
- Partner with operations and production teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment performance
- Maintain maintenance records and reporting, including:
- Maintenance downtime logs
- Work request logs
- Fab shop logs
- Equipment and master plan updates
- Participate in employee development activities including training, orientation, coaching, and performance management
- Support hiring, disciplinary actions, attendance management, and employee evaluations
- Procure non-inventory parts and equipment as needed
- Ensure contractors comply with Gerdau policies and procedures
Safety Leadership

- Provide full support for the implementation and management of safety systems
- Participate in accident and incident investigations
- Conduct routine safety inspections, employee contacts, lockout audits, and contractor safety reviews
- Ensure compliance with all safety rules and requirements

The incumbent must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental regulations. Employees are also required to report any situation that may have a detrimental impact on human health or the environment to their immediate supervisor.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Additional education preferred but not required, including an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Three years of supervisory and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of additional education
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and develop employees
- Knowledge or experience in:
- Industrial hydraulics
- Mechanical, piping, and structural drawings
- Mechanical systems
- Water systems
- Rotating equipment
- Industrial automation
- PLCs and HMIs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, SAP, and PLEX
- Availability to work a swing shift schedule
