The Controls Technician II analyzes job requests received from various departments for priority, material requirements and scope of project.

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Primary responsibilities include: plan, coordinate, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, maintain, repair, modify, construct, calibrate, test, service and program complex control systems in support of steel production and related plant operations. Work involves a thorough knowledge of programmable logic controllers, industrial control devices, electrical wiring, and principles of operation and application of equipment.
This job reports directly to the Routine Facilitator and indirectly to the Regional Director of Maintenance & Engineering.
This job requires a minimum 5 years experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment, with a strong machine electrical background and a completed Training Checklist for this job. In addition, this job requires 2 - 3 years working as a Controls Technician I. This incumbent should possess computer literacy.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- 1.Analyze job requests received from various departments for priority, material requirements and scope of project.
- Installation, modification, monitoring, troubleshooting and repair of highly automated industrial control equipment.
- Design, plan, install and maintain a variety of industrial control equipment and instrumentation including: loop controls, variable frequency drives, control panels, load balancing, and complex electrical circuits.
- Work with related diagnostic equipment tooling including: digital volt meters, data recorders, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, and other tools and equipment.
- Have a strong understanding of various operating systems and software utilized within programmable logic control systems and human machine interfaces with the ability to make online/offline changes.
- Verifies and adjusts plant instrumentation; routinely checks responsible area control systems; leads and/or assists with program and control upgrades.
- Work with other departments on projects, i.e., new equipment installations and overhauling or upgrading existing equipment to ensure maximum safe operating conditions.
- Work closely with electricians to ensure timely and uniform equipment installations and upgrades.
- Work closely with production and maintenance personnel in planning and coordinating the systematic maintenance of controls and instrumentation.
- Work closely with plant engineering, vendors, service technicians and field engineers to remain current on the latest control equipment and techniques.
- Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems and components and how they operate.
- Maintain networks, computers and peripherals associated with plant industrial control systems.
- Able to understand electrical drawings and schematics with the ability to maintain and update (Auto-CAD experience preferable).
- Respond to emergency calls involving equipment breakdowns that affect production and/or quality of end product.
- Responsible to use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to create purchase orders and develop/administer PM and work order procedures.
- Conceive and implement long term solutions to repeating/reacquiring problems.
- Assist in the development, instruction, training and monitoring of production and maintenance employees.
- All other tasks assigned by management.
- Responsible for departmental housekeeping.
- Responsible for following all safety policies including the Cardinal Safety Rules.
- Attend monthly safety and crew meetings.
- Responsible for utilizing the Gerdau Business Systems and EMM concepts.
- Responsible for and completing all required annual safety and environmental training.
- Tasks which have significant environmental impacts are (i.e. Process pond water, spill prevention, containment and response, RCRA waste, KO61 Dust (bag house dust) PM’s, and calibration of equipment.
- Employee is expected to know, understand, and follow all applicable Federal, State, and Local environmental legal requirements and practices.
- Enforce environmental compliance to procedures, practices, and regulations within the department.

Reporting to the Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for both capital project management and engineering design support of improvement and reliability inititatives in all areas of the Steel Mill. This position works closely with various production area staff and maintenance personnel in pursuit of increased safety for employees and contractors, increased quality of the final product, increased production capabilities, and cost efficiency improvements. This position includes a balance of long term strategic project planning and execution while also supporting the fast paced day to day operations in the maintennace and production areas. This position provides a dynamic work envionment with new challenges every day while also providing the satisfaction of a long term project seen from concept to completion.
Our successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of 5 years electrical engineering and project management experience in a related field; 10+ years experience preferred
- Solid technical communication skills, both verbal and written
- Electrical and automation (PLC) design experience
- Drafting (CAD) experience
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; self-initiative and ability to be self-led
- Previous work experience in the metals industry or an industrial environment will be considered an asset
Preference will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical engineering from an accredited university.

Job Description:
The primary objective of Improvement Facilitator is to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of all improvement aspects within their area of responsibility at the Jackson Mill.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Identify opportunities for improvement within his/her area of responsibility and approve standards developed from these efforts
Responsible for developing and implementing activities that support the annual action plan specifically as they relate to improvement projects
Design or develop new or alterations to existing structures, systems, and equipment
Provide timely and accurate cost estimates on proposed improvement efforts
Support and participate in CAPEX projects
Develop and coach employees capabilities and knowledge in the application of QIS methodology and participate as required in QIS events
Participate and contribute to the achievement of department goals including goal setting
Serve as a resource to facilitate the vertical and horizontal help chain
Responsible for data entry into GMR and/or other systems utilized for tracking goals and projects
Assist with safety related activities within the area
The Individual:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field.
- Minimum 4-6 years of practical training pertaining to scrap processing, melting, casting, rolling, maintenance, finishing, and/or shipping/warehouse operations, and to include some supervisory and facilitation experience.
- Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the business system and of steel manufacturing methods and techniques involving the use of heavy mill machinery and related equipment.

NATURE & SCOPE:
Plant Operations:
The Regional Energy Manager (REM) supplies energy for several mills within a broad geographical region and serves as a resource for plant management for energy forecasts, communication, and collaboration regarding commercial aspects of energy supply. The successful candidate will:
- consult with plant management/users to adequately meet operational needs;
- analyze, develop and implement effective procurement strategies;
- ensure effective implementation of supply arrangements and efficient use of resources;
- identify and pursue improvement opportunities; and
- ensure compliance with established risk management, accounting, and related policies/procedures.
Procurement and Vendor Relations:
The Regional Energy Manager develops and maintains effective business and professional contacts to keep abreast of market conditions, opportunities, and trends while developing supply sources and maintaining favorable vendor relations. In this position, the REM will:
- prepare requests for proposals and contracts;
- create studies of relevant issues and forecasts;
- maintain adequate files and records to compile periodic reports;
- analyze business unit consumption and requirements for energy-related supplies;
- plan purchases to take advantage of emerging market opportunities, meet inventory goals, and anticipate market conditions within established limits of authority;
- obtain competitive bids as required; and
- negotiate major supply arrangements under the general direction of the Director of Energy.
Advocacy:
The Regional Energy Manager serves as the Company’s representative in commercial, regulatory, and governmental activities necessary to protect and further the interests of Gerdau in areas related to energy. In this position, the REM will:
- represent the Company’s interests in local, state/provincial, and national regulatory and legislative arenas;
- work with associations to advocate for improved energy policy for manufacturers;
- work with professionals, consulting resources, and counsel to secure specialized assistance as required, subject to approved budget.

BASIC FUNCTION:
To direct, coordinate and ensure adherence to accounting principles, practices and procedures of the Company; maintaining all accounting and related records. Responsible for the development, analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of costs, budgets, inventories, policies of operations, trends, and increased profit possibilities. Manage financial consolidations and internal financial reporting to the Parent Company and responsible for maintaining a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the Company's reported financial results. Coordinate all audit related activities (including external auditing firm, internal audit plans and bank/government audits). Protect Company assets and accuracy of financial statements, ensures that the Company has effective internal controls (SOX certification). Work with attorneys, accountants and external auditing firms on complex accounting matters. Manage financial integration of acquired companies.
This position is responsible for the review and reporting of the financial results of the largest subsidiary of the publicly-traded parent company on all phases of the Company’s operations to see that they are within International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and meeting various requirements of SEC and other governmental agencies and parent company reporting requirements. In addition, the position oversees the reporting on performance and results of groups, regions, divisions and units to measure accomplishment of corporate goals and objectives; directs preparation and presents annual, quarterly and monthly balance sheets, profit and loss statements, trial balances, management information and other statistical reports.
This position has dotted line reporting from division controllers and is responsible for the oversight and coordination of accounting and financial reporting at the division operations to insure that division accounting is following IFRS and Company accounting policies. This position also is responsible for its own departmental results to see that all phases are within acceptable standards. In this capacity, this position is responsible for analyzing departmental costs, financial and operating reports; check practices and procedures to insure optimum efficiency at the lowest costs; take prompt corrective action as necessary; make inquiries and investigations into areas that appear to be outside acceptable standards or where financial or management accounting questions arise.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide management with the financial and accounting information needed to monitor operations, identify problems and otherwise improve performance of the organization. Provide complete management accounting support to operating vice presidents and to their division managers.
- Responsible for financial reporting to the publically traded parent company. Also responsible for review and approval of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Ensure that all required periodic financial and accounting reports are accurate and prepared timely; in accordance with IFRS and with current regulations of various governmental agencies such as SEC and IRS.
- Ensure that the Company’s accounting policies and IFRS are followed at the Company’s operating divisions.
