Job Summary:
The laborer is an entry level position, reflecting employees with no previous knowledge or experience related to scrap metals and recycling. The laborer must have the ability to learn and a strong work ethic. The laborer will assist in several aspects of daily operations such as scrap inspection, sortation, and general yard maintenance as directed.
Under the safety standards of Gerdau the laborer will learn to operate mobile equipment and perform general maintenance duties on machinery. The laborer must have strong communication skills and use them at all times to ensure safety among co-workers, truck drivers, peddlers, and contractors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all of the established Gerdau safety, environmental, and routine procedures specific to the yard
- Operate the fork-lift while progressing towards loader operation and material handler operation to assist in the loading, off-loading, and sorting of scrap materials
- Inspect incoming scrap against quality and environmental standards with a progression towards grading and purchasing scrap material
- Apply deductions to non-conforming materials through effective communication with the scale house or yard inspector
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC)
- Detect and report faulty tools, equipment, environmental hazards, and safety hazards to a supervisor
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion
- Provide excellent customer service

Locations with Rail:
- For Operations that have rail; shift full and empty cars, operate locomotive, activate switches, couple and uncouple cars, and set brakes or wheel blocks as requested, in accordance with standard operating procedures.

- Ensure non-conforming objects have been removed from incoming scrap vehicles such as gas tanks (drained and removed), propane tanks, and batteries
- Ensure radioactive materials are removed from inbound/outbound scrap material and quarantined properly
- General house-keeping duties: sweep shop area and removal of garbage
- Assist in non-ferrous sorting and processing as directed by non-ferrous operator
- Assist co-workers in general operational duties that are essential to the yard in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability

Job Summary:
The Yard Operator has a variety of duties and a broad skill set that makes this position an important part of operational needs. The Yard Operator requires knowledge of scrap grading, or have the ability to learn. The Yard Operator will assist in several aspects of daily operational needs such as scrap inspection, ferrous and non-ferrous purchasing, mobile equipment operation, and performing general maintenance duties.
The Yard Operator will be expected to safely operate a material handling crane or loader in order to accomplish daily tasks. They must communicate regularly with the scale, supervisor, other coworkers, and customers about the quality of material and shipping requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow all established Gerdau Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
- Work involves a variety of tasks, simple through moderately complex in nature, requiring some care to ensure correct procedures are being followed.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap is scanned for radiation and that all material that fails the scan is quarantined and the appropriate personnel are notified.
- Operate the loader and/or the material handler to assist in loading and unloading scrap material, while following the quality standards of Gerdau and the customer.
- Ensure that all incoming scrap inspected against quality, and environmental standards and appropriate deductions and downgrades are applied. Communicate findings with the scale in a timely manner.
- Inspect and verify scrap for grade and quality. Identify deductions and downgrades.
- Ensure that all outbound materials meets safety and quality standards.
- Perform and document daily Routine Equipment Care (REC).
- Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, safety, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion.

BASIC FUNCTION:
The Credit Analyst handles development and implementation of GABS and process improvements for the credit department. The Credit Analyst acts as a liaison between the company and outside entities including customers, credit reporting agencies, and legal counsel. The Credit Analyst also conducts the acquisition process in its entirety, as it relates to the department. The Credit Analyst supports the department during peak times and absences.
Reporting to this position for A/R:
1. Credit approval authority limit, per order: $500,000
2. Account Receivable by Credit Analyst $75 Million
3. Part of the team managing $400M in company assets.
4. Provide credit services for assigned product lines or regions.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Report directly to the Director of Credit, Collections, and Accounts Receivable along with Regional Credit Manager Rebar Fabrication (2), Accounts Receivable and Downstream Credit Manager, and Mills Credit Manager. In some cases, may report directly to Sr. Credit Analyst.
Provide support and services for all US locations for credit, collections, and accounts receivable functions.
Qualifications for this position include broad exposure to credit practices and procedures. Learning background and/or training experiences should be equivalent to that as may be demonstrated by a bachelor’s degree in business from an accredited college or university combined with two years of experience is preferred. However, 1-3 years credit experience would be acceptable.
Incumbent is required to work with Access, Excel, Power Point, and Word. Working knowledge with an ERP system is strongly preferred.
Monitor, report progress, and lead process improvements; initiatives for all GABS and process improvement functions for Credit, Collections, and Accounts Receivable in US operations.
Maintain, update, archive, and distribute all department GABS and process improvements statistics, with graphics as necessary.
Conduct lockbox studies annually to ensure payments are being directed to proper lockbox for maximum efficiency.
Assist in Department Training and Development initiatives such as Rebar Fabricating Contract Administration Seminars, given at RF Regional Sales Meetings.
Credit Analyst verifies credit standing and credit extension from information in files and approves or disapproves credit, based on acceptable standards. Credit approval may be granted with certain restrictions, terms and parameters determined from investigative credit analyses applied within established guidelines. This position regularly works with credit reports, financial statements, credit interchanges, individual and inter-company guarantees, letters of credit, with exposure to bond regulations and types as well as lien laws.
The Credit Analyst will also oversee follow-up on all collection litigation pertaining to the department.
Additionally participate in Benchmarking and other activities of the Credit Research Foundation particularly standards, best practices pertaining to accounts receivable, collection, and credit functions.
Actively participates in approximate credit associations and their seminar activity in order to establish a network and maintain functional credit communications.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for timely and accurate processing and reporting of accounts receivable.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and current records, files, statements, notices, etc., as necessary for the ongoing integrity of account information.

- Responsible for filing pre-lien or bond application to protect rights on secured accounts and the analysis of lien releases.
- Responsible for cooperation with supervisors, departments and services to maintain coordinated efficiency of credit related operations in-house and externally.

Your Purpose:

Your Work:

Your Purpose:
This position directly reports to the Plant Controller. The incumbent will be responsible for the accounting functions for the Mill including payables, inventories, cost variances analysis and other financial records as may be assigned. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining accurate accounting transactions, records, and reports necessary to substantiate the financial performance of the mill. The incumbent also assists the Controller in performing monthly analysis of cost records to assist in identification of problem areas. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective and accurate collection, compilation, and issue of performance reports for plant operations involving production data such as production rates, man hours per ton, and dollars per ton. Additionally, the Mill Accountant will show trends and analyze for cost control applications. Assist the controller in preparation of quarterly and annual reports and annual operating budgets.
You Have:
- Four year college degree in Accounting, with a broad background in accounting and cost analysis.
- 3-5 years of previous qualifying experience in jobs involving accounting practices and inventory control.
- CMA or CPA certification or working towards certification is preferred.

Your Work:
- Maintain accurate and timely accounting transactions, records, and reports in close coordination and cooperation with Controller.
- Review accounts payable for proper approvals and account codes.
- Maintain fixed asset records coordinating with Corporate Tax Department. Track and account for capital projects; assure accurate reporting and classification; prepare comparison to capital budget; analyze cost overruns, etc.
- Maintain inventory records of scrap, supplies, alloys, fluxes, billets, finished goods to assure accurate recording of production, production costs, shipments and cost of sales. Responsible for monitoring and recording cycle count adjustments in accounting records and reconciling detail inventory records with general ledger. Coordinates physical inventories with corporate accounting and outside auditors.

- Assist Controller in preparing division’s annual business plan and budgets, provide monthly reporting of actual to plan to division management.
- Review payroll reporting and cost accounting to include overtime analysis; provide feedback to management on timely basis.
- Assist Controller in office management – equipment purchases and maintenance, office supplies, vendor relationships, etc.
- Supervises and coaches the AP Clerk.
- Responsible for several phases of monthly closing process.
- Performs closing process in absence of Controller.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Reporting to the Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for both capital project management and engineering design support of improvement and reliability inititatives in all areas of the Steel Mill. JOB: Hydraulic Repair Technician “A”
SCOPE
Primary: - Inspects plant hydraulic equipment for defects, such as misalignment, wear, insufficient lubrication, etc.
- Troubleshoots and analyzes repair, installation and determines best way of making repairs to minimize interruption of production.
- Advises when immediate shutdown of equipment is necessary to minimize damage or when temporarily continued operation will have no harmful effect.

Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Minimum five to seven years of experience in quality management within a steel mill or heavy manufacturing environment

BASIC FUNCTION:
This role will be responsible for creating new business market strategies and increasing existing market share for GLN in the industry and guide our sustainability efforts from the sales front. Gerdau is looking for an experienced Electrician to undertake a variety of tasks related to the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment. This would include but is not limited to communication systems, various mill and production equipment, electronic computing and controls systems, power and distribution control devices, gauges, and instrumentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze all types of circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings as required to install and maintain electrical and electronic devices and systems.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Raw Materials Purchasing Agent - Scrap Buyer II
BASIC FUNCTION:
The position is primarily responsible for the procurement of retail scrap suitable for steelmaking. Under the immediate direction of the Scrap Buyer Manager, the incumbent will execute the approved plan to achieve the objective of minimizing overall cost while maximizing return for operations.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
This position is responsible for the economic and efficient procurement of retail scrap. The incumbent will establish and maintain effective relationships with suppliers, including active solicitation of new sources within the assigned region. The supplier base includes established accounts, casual peddlers, auto wreckers, and other generators of scrap metal.
The position reports directly to the Regional Raw Materials Manager and has a functional reporting relationship to the local Division Manager. The incumbent will coordinate activities with transportation, scrap inspection, accounting personnel, and other relevant staff.

As required, the incumbent will inspect and address scrap quality issues that arise at the Yard site. May be required to educate and communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance requirements to vendors, shippers, and inspection personnel.
Incumbent must be knowledgeable in the computer systems and procedures used to receive, handle and pay for scrap throughout the Company and assist in resolving any problems that may arise with vendors. BASIC FUNCTION (Primary Purpose):

Plant Operations:
The Regional Energy Manager (REM) supplies energy for several mills within a broad geographical region and serves as a resource for plant management for energy forecasts, communication, and collaboration regarding commercial aspects of energy supply. The successful candidate will:

WHAT THE POSITION ENTAILS:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this position’s job responsibilities include:
- Troubleshoot AC/DC motors, controls, PLC, electrical drives, low/medium/high voltage systems.
- Service the electrical aspect of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
- Receive instructions, prints or work orders, covering scheduled and emergency repairs, installation, and inspection work to be done.

GENERAL SUMMARY: An Automation Specialist will install, maintain, and replace automation systems throughout the production process. Must be able to troubleshoot component parts, service and repair industrial process control systems, instrumentation, robotic assembly devices, and computer-controlled equipment designed to reduce human interaction. Work involves a wide range of diversified and complex duties including installation, modification, and programming of complex closed loop and digital electronic equipment. Subject matter expert in the area of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming (Primarily Rockwell and ABB), and HMI Systems. Automation, and instrumentation including motion sensors, control components, load cells, VFD’s, photosensors, camera systems and other vital technology. In addition to maintaining smooth operation, you will operate as a subject matter expert (SME) for leadership and key decision-makers, delivering reports on current automation capabilities and future opportunities. This is a specialized position, and our ideal applicant has considerable experience and education in engineering, robotics, and production automation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs advanced PLC programming and HMI programming, networking, and troubleshooting; setup and install hardware; and as necessary evaluate equipment making recommendation for design changes and improvements. 2. Has expert knowledge and understanding, as well as the ability to modify, ancillary systems or equipment used in conjunction with PLCs such as: operating systems, software packages, drives and/or data acquisition systems, taking care to identify the root causes of equipment failure. 3. May check and calibrate plant instrumentation; routinely checks plant equipment, reheat furnace, melt shop electronic systems or other instrumentation. Will document testing of emergency systems for compliance purposes. Will work with analytic software, calculators, meters, and electronic probes in order to diagnose faults in circuitry. 4. Interprets schematics/blueprints at an expert level. 5. Research, specify, and help source equipment, parts, and digital solutions.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Works with related diagnostic equipment including digital voltmeter, multi-volt meter, oscilloscope, and other electronic tools and equipment. 2. Plans and assists engineers and plant leadership with projects that involve installation or modification of equipment. 3. Helps in coordinating the activities and troubleshooting of maintenance employees and contractors on assigned projects. 4. Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed. 5. Responsible for training other personnel on electrical systems, PLC’s, HMI’s, networks, process changes, etc. 6. Perform all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Associates or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or Automation technology, robotics, or a closely related technical field is preferred. 10 years of heavy industrial electrical maintenance experience preferred. Experience working in an industrial environment. Maintain a thorough and working knowledge/understanding of and be familiar with computer science, mechanics, electronics, machinery, human-machine interfaces, and process controls. Must possess strong math, computer, and electrical skills. Must be familiar with a variety of hand tools and be an excellent problem solver. It is critical to have a thorough understanding of equipment including motors, drives, pneumatics, and hydraulics. Ability to read blueprints. BASIC FUNCTION:
To direct, coordinate and ensure adherence to accounting principles, practices and procedures of the Company; maintaining all accounting and related records. NATURE AND SCOPE:
Within the established Corporate policies, this position is responsible for the overall management and administration of the Company’s service functions pertaining primarily to financial, general, cost, property and material accounting; d benefit programs accounting; capital expenditures, and management information systems; responsible for coordination, review and approval by outside independent auditors to secure certification of Company’s financial reports and meeting various requirements of the SEC as the largest subsidiary of the publically traded company, Gerdau (GGB) and other governmental agencies.
This position reports to the Vice President, Finance. Reporting directly to this position are 3 Corporate Accounting Managers. Indirect (dotted line) reporting to this position are division controllers who are responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions and monthly financial close and cost accounting of the divisions.
This position is responsible for the review and reporting of the financial results of the largest subsidiary of the publicly-traded parent company on all phases of the Company’s operations to see that they are within International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and meeting various requirements of SEC and other governmental agencies and parent company reporting requirements. In addition, the position oversees the reporting on performance and results of groups, regions, divisions and units to measure accomplishment of corporate goals and objectives; directs preparation and presents annual, quarterly and monthly balance sheets, profit and loss statements, trial balances, management information and other statistical reports.
This position has dotted line reporting from division controllers and is responsible for the oversight and coordination of accounting and financial reporting at the division operations to insure that division accounting is following IFRS and Company accounting policies. This position is involved in selection and training of division controllers and accounting personnel. This position is also responsible for the integration of the accounting functions and systems during acquisitions.
This position also is responsible for its own departmental results to see that all phases are within acceptable standards. In this capacity, this position is responsible for analyzing departmental costs, financial and operating reports; check practices and procedures to insure optimum efficiency at the lowest costs; take prompt corrective action as necessary; make inquiries and investigations into areas that appear to be outside acceptable standards or where financial or management accounting questions arise.
Cooperate and coordinate with Corporate officers, group or staff vice presidents on common subjects or matters of mutual interest. Assist administrative staff members and/or outside consultants involving projects, studies or surveys which may be undertaken. Keep abreast of developments, methods and procedures within the accounting and related disciplines. Maintain effective liaison with external auditors, legal services, governmental
agencies and accounting related organizations as is necessary to the fulfillment of this function.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent from an accredited university
- 10 years of experience, including significant exposure and working knowledge of financial reporting, budgetary control, cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience working with a multi-entity, international company.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP.
- CPA or Advanced degree in business related programs preferred

QC Metallurgist
Responsible for providing support in the coordination and evaluation of external and internal customer requirements in accordance with the capacities and capabilities of the production departments (i.e. Steel Making and Rolling), and ancillary service departments (i.e. process and product metallurgy, material handling marketing).
DIMENSIONS
- Advisory staff position. Provides technical training and guidance to employees.
- Has access to highly confidential information.
- Under the general direction of the Quality Assurance Manager is primarily responsible for the identification, evaluation, and implementation of product and process enhancement opportunities.
- Actions would involve the planning, supervision, evaluation, and reporting of product trials and investigations on site or outside facilities.
- Incumbent will visit customers when there is a technical problem with the product or quality issue and determine the nature of the problem.
- Upon visit to the customer, the incumbent physically inspects the product to determine resolution pertaining to material disposition and implementation of corrective action procedures.

G.Start is a paid internship program with the goal of developing students for future technical and managerial positions G.Start internships are project-focused and mutually-beneficial. BASIC FUNCTIONS:
The Treasury Analyst is responsible for supporting all aspects of Treasury Operations including cash management, debt management, insurance, and pension assets. This position reports to the Treasury Manager who reports directly to the Director of Finance. Below is further detail on the job role.
Cash Management
- Responsible for developing, managing and executing Gerdau’s Cash Management process including the determination of investment or borrowing decisions through short-term forecasting. Sets daily “cash position” by reviewing bank activity, balancing accounts and investing excess cash. Ensures all cash activity is accounted on the general ledger; responsible for managing wire payments; executes FX transactions as necessary; establishes new bank accounts and manages related documentation; ensures adherence to all corporate policies related to cash and Treasury SOX internal controls. Manages banking relationships and fees; approves all bank user accessShort-term liquidity
– manages the Company’s cash, short-term investments and lines of credit. Creates cash forecasts that are used in the financial planning process and to anticipate short-term borrowing needs.Debt Management
- assist Treasury Manager in managing Company’s short and long-term financing needs. Accounts for all debt related activity utilizing the Treasury module within SAP and manual journal entries. Responsible for reconciliation of debt and interest balance sheet accounts, making interest payments and providing support for routine audit requests. Responsible for performing detailed reconciliation of lease liabilities to ensure SOX complianceLease Accounting
- responsible for the equipment leasing process and conducts buy versus lease analysis to assist the business in making financial decisions. Responsible for performing detailed reconciliation of lease liabilities.Insurance
- assists the Treasury Manager in building the Company’s insurance program to ensure adequate coverage at the lowest possible cost. Responsible for managing insurance claim activity, tracking risk management metrics and reducing the total cost of risk. Completes all insurance administration and compliance activities. Works with insurance brokers to renew insurance policies annually.Pension Assets
- assist Treasury Manager with asset management oversight, contributions, and fee payments Manage pension funded status by reviewing annual pension plan valuations, setting the funding strategy and make necessary contributions.Financial Assurance
- negotiates collateral requirements for energy, insurance and environmental contracts; reviews state and provincial regulations to minimize collateral requirements for environmental projects; works to reduce existing collateral requirements and costs where possible; communicates future collateral requirements to Treasury Manager to determine need for additional letters of credit, insurance or surety bond capacity.
Qualifications for this position must include:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related area such as business, finance, or accounting plus 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
- A master’s degree is a plus and additional years of education can be substituted for years of work experience (i.e., a master’s degree plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience).
- High degree of professionalism required due to confidentiality of data involved with insurance claims, banking access, and other responsibilities such M&A activity.
NATURE & SCOPE:
The position reports directly to the Treasury Manager. It is very fast paced and requires a solid foundation in corporate finance and valuation theory as well as a practical and simple approach to implementation of the theory. There will be many situations that are not straight forward for which the position requires inventive solutions to arrive at a solution. The position requires an ability to articulate in a simple and straight forward manner the complex topics of valuation, capital structure, risk mitigation, pension and the capability to understand then relay the relevant accounting to senior management. The incumbent must also be able to develop contacts in other parts of the Company to facilitate information gathering for the various corporate finance analyses. Finally, the position comes with some operational/regulatory tasks that are related to some of the areas discussed above. The incumbent is charged with driving continuous improvement and automation of these activities so as to eliminate waste and opportunities for errors while reducing the time, money and resources required to complete them.
