Job Summary:
Maintain plant HVAC systems in all areas of as directed by the Maintenance Routine Facilitator. Supervise the record keeping, various contractors, and the inventory of parts on site for service. Maintain HVAC equipment inside and outside all buildings. Coordinate unit replacements according to dates set forth by the EPA. Maintain service and maintenance activities in plant maintenance software.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot HVAC equipment associated with cranes, mobile equipment, MCC rooms, and comfort areas in the plant.
- Visually inspect and diagnose the cause of equipment malfunctions.
- Perform welding repair, fabrication, pipefitting, and brazing on various metals.
- Perform data entry into SAP (work order data base system).
- Maintain equipment history.
- Recover and dispose of all refrigerant gases, and properly maintain accurate records of those activities.
- Perform new installations of equipment, including ductwork, insulating, and installing refrigeration tubing.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including on the water strainers on water-cooled units.
- Assist in development of preventative maintenance programs for new or updated equipment.
- Obtain competitive bids, when required, for projects that encompass jobs which exceed a set dollar amount for repairs or installations.
- Maintain specified records for work performed, details of repairs, and materials used.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Operate mobile equipment to lift and transport materials, including loaders, cranes, man-lifts, brick-lift, and forklifts.
- Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which includes fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluid as needed.
- Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed.
- Assist in training of coworkers as needed.
- Maintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
- Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
- Exhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology.
- Have basic computer skills; specifically, SAP experience is preferred.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of technical school and at least three (3) years of experience in all facets of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating systems.
- Understanding of shop mathematics, including use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments.
- Basic knowledge of the following maintenance disciplines: High Pressure Refrigerant Systems.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and fluid power, electrical control circuits, oxygen/gas/water systems, and common maintenance hand tools.
AAS in industrial maintenance and maintenance reliability certifications are preferred.
3-5 years’ experience working in an industrial environment in a position containing a routine maintenance component is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
- Ability to reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged sitting.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
- Ability to work in extreme ambient temperatures up to 160°F.
- Ability to work in cramped quarters and at heights.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule including days, nights, and weekends.
- Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
