Your Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from an accredited school.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology is preferred.
  • 2 years of leadership / supervisory experience.
  • Strong mechanical maintenance aptitude with a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
  • Steel mill experience is preferred.
  • Customer Oriented.
  • Strong leadership/team skills (ability to interview, select, develop people).
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Project Management, resources management, budgeting and spend forecasting.
  • Knowledge of common steel manufacturing processes and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of equipment systems and controls (motors, gearboxes, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.)
  • Use of computer aided design (CAD): 2D drawing, editing, analysis.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management Software, Work Order and PM Processes
  • Microsoft Office, Project.

 

Your Purpose:

You will manage all aspects of the Melt Shop Mechanical Maintenance Department. This includes managing the upkeep of all Melt Shop manufacturing assets, managing maintenance budget and resources, creating/revising maintenance standards, auditing critical tasks, analyzing failures, designing and installing new systems. In addition, you will manage multiple shifts of 15-20 maintenance mechanics and contractors. The main goal of this position is to provide support for the plant production requirements while safely adhering to planned maintenance activities and goals. This position is a day shift, but should also be available on an on-call basis for nights and weekends.

 

Your Work:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and standards (Safety, Environmental, HR, Accounting, etc.).
  • Manage maintenance personnel and contractors by setting direction and priorities.
  • Manage the hiring, promotion and disciplinary actions for the department.
  • Manage team schedule. This includes attendance, overtime, vacation, PTO, shift coverage, etc.
  • Conduct Performance Evaluations on direct reports at least once a year.
  • Provide training and continuous development plans for all maintenance personnel.
  • Drive the Department Maintenance and Reliability initiative focused on Preventive & Predictive Maintenance.
  • Develop, communicate and execute departmental plans/goals for cost, delays, PM/PdM and Inspection compliance.
  • Track performance of control items and share with the appropriate management team. Must be able to communicate provide formal presentations.
  • Develop Annual Action Plans and supports the CAPEX process.
  • Manage the down day and annual outage planning.
  • Develop and revise maintenance standards (Job Aids, RPs, One Point Lessons, PM, PdM, Inspections, etc.).
  • Manage the availability and purchase of critical spare parts for the shop.
  • Audit tasks, review data trends periodically, and develop improvement actions as needed.
  • Manage the department housekeeping and 5S practices.
  • Collaborate with other Routine and Improvement Managers to assess failures and solve problems.
