Operate all mobile equipment including loaders, man-lifts, forklifts, flatbed trucks and others to transport Melt Shop and/or Refractory materials.  Assist other Melt Shop personnel as instructed.   

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Operate mobile equipment including loaders, man-lifts, forklifts, and flatbed trucks to lift and transport materials. 
  2. Perform daily preventative maintenance on vehicles and mobile equipment, which includes fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluids as needed.
  3. Ensure loads are within the safe load capacity of each piece of mobile equipment.
  4. Maintain material in feed hoppers or bins at an adequate operating level.
  5. Keep constant communication with Melt Shop Team and AMT operations to monitor alloy levels.
  6. Assist Melt Shop Operations and Refractory area with crusher operations and cleaning as needed.
  7. Visually inspect materials for non-conformities.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

 

  1. Communicate problems to responsible personnel in a timely manner.
  2. Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed.
  3. Maintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
  4. Demonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision. 
  5. Maintain work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  6. Exhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology.
  7. Assist coworkers as needed.
  8. Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Basic computer and math skills. 
  • Read, write and speak in English. 
  • 1-3 years mobile equipment experience preferred.  

 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
  • Ability to reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged sitting.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.
  • Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
  • Ability to work in extreme ambient temperatures up to 160°F.
  • Ability to work in cramped quarters and at heights.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift schedule including days, nights and weekends.
  • Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
