You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field of Engineering required.
- Preferred knowledge or experience in ISO Certification programs.
- Preferred 1-2 years of related experience in Quality Management and/or experience with business systems use, quality tools, lean manufacturing and some statistical analysis.
- Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Other required skills: Strong interpersonal skills, team player, quick-learner, proactive and can effectively lead a team of various levels to achieve results.
- Any of these certifications are desired, but not required: Project Management (PMP), Lean Certification and/or DMAIC Black Belt.
Your Purpose:
- Support the company and employees to find ways to simplify, stabilize, improve and/or innovate routines and processes aiming to achieve superior results in the most significant areas. Provide the company and employees with methodology expertise, training and solutions that support their needs for leveraging results, and be the steward of the methodologies and tools. Help maintain ISO 9001 certification and related quality systems.The incumbent will report to the Quality Manager.
Your Work:
- Coordinate/support the development, implementation, maintenance and tracking of the ISO 9001 process and Quality System.
- Support the use of process stabilization and routine management
- Work with leaders to identify gaps and/or opportunities for improvements
- Lead, participate or support critical projects
- Provide training, coaching and expertise on methods and tools to support employees’ development
- Pursue process simplification and better productivity
- Learn and apply/transfer knowledge about Lean Concepts and tools when needed

Job Summary:
Operate mobile crane, magnet crane, mobile shear, and stationary shear to process scrap materials, load/unload scrap from trucks or railcars, and move scrap from one area to another.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspects mobile shear, magnet crane, and stationary shear daily and documents on checklists to ensure equipment is maintained and in proper working order.
- Performs preventive maintenance such as lubrication, greasing, fueling, and keeping cab clean.
- Inspects for proper scrap grade and safety and environmental concerns such as tanks, cylinders, etc. while shearing.
- Shear unprepared material into prepared state identifying size, thickness, and physical dimensions.
- Use magnet crane to load/unload scrap from customer vehicles into appropriate piles or railcars in order to process for shipping.
- Use mobile equipment to lift and move scrap from one area of the yard to another.
- Follow all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with yard housekeeping efforts and perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.
- When operating mobile equipment, follow all prescribed safety guidelines and perform daily checks to ensure equipment is maintained in proper working order.

Job Summary:
Perform Metallurgical Services functions through chemical analysis of heat samples, hot billet inspection and inventory control, and managing billet hot charging. Maintain and operate spectrometer, Leco analyzer, and related equipment to examine the chemical composition of heats from melting and casting. Disposition non conforming heats as needed. Maintain and operate the slag analyzer and related equipment for determination of slag composition in melting. Inspect hot billets at the caster for surface and dimensional conformity to orders. Coordinate hot charging of heats with the mill. Assess product grade change samples to maintain traceability during rolling. Record, verify and submit test and inspection results to supervisor.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and perform chemistry tests for samples taken from EAF, ladle, and billets. Verify and discuss test results to Melter and check against product specifications.
- Work with the melter to disposition non conforming heats or portions of heats.
- Inspect hot billets as they are cast for dimensions and quality and report results to the supervisor. Notify the operators of any non conformance.
- Maintain and operate pad grinder, cutoff saw, ARL spectrometer, Leco C/S analysis unit, slag analyzer and weigh scales.
- Calibrate equipment per schedule.
- Enter test results and sample information into personal computer.
- Coordinate hot charging of billets during rolling.
- Check heat samples for radiation.
- Assess grade change samples from the mill and alert supervisor of any discrepancies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Actively participate and support 5S initiatives in the work area.

You Have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or related field

Your Purpose:
The primary function of this position is the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services to support Gerdau’s production plans in the designated region and commodity/category. These activities include but are not limited to; supporting the strategic procurement process, execution of national, regional, and/or local supplier agreements to include team-based bid processes, negotiations, supplier selection/development, and contract management. Incumbent must stay abreast of current company practices and procedures.
Your Work:
- Procure goods and services, prepare purchase orders and/or supply contracts within established policies and procedures, verify purchase order details, and document vendor performance.
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies, review min/max levels, assess vendor capabilities and past performance, recommend adjustments, and collect supplier performance data.
- Keep the procurement team, plant personnel, and central management abreast of changing market and supplier conditions.
- Inspect, address, and rectify product quality issues as they arise.
- Communicate specifications, commercial terms/conditions, and safety and environmental compliance to vendors/suppliers, shippers, and inspection personnel.
- Assist in resolving procurement issues with vendors/suppliers and Gerdau departments. The incumbent will coordinate the resolution of problems or issues with appropriate administrative and accounting personnel.
- Provide information to central management, regional management, plant management, and internal customers to control costs and identify savings opportunities in the procurement of goods and services.
- Review the status of shipment orders and make expediting adjustments, as needed, to ensure timely receipt of goods purchased and proper order application.
- Resolve discrepancies primarily pertaining to specifications, weight settlement, order requirements, other clarifications and disputes with vendors/suppliers and mill personnel. Issues must be resolved professionally to maintain sound and effective relationships.
- Stay proficient in procurement systems, company information systems, and other applicable business applications.
- Implement the standardization and continual improvement of the procurement process and the attainment of other identified procurement Key Performance Indicators within the Gerdau Business System guidelines.
